yes i would love to talk to you more about the McKerns. i know that my family came across the Oregon Trail and became prominante there before moving south into Califonia. The oldest name in my tree i have is Henry McKern born in 1812 North Carolina and married in 1834 in Putnam County Indiana. His wife was Catharine Collings from KY. So i Think we should really talk. I am from Indiana and my father was born in Lebanon Indiana
There was a large group of Mckerns that went on to Penn. and oregon and out west .My father had 2 brothers that died when they were young and a sister . If you r interested get in touch .Iwould love to hear from you My family came into the u,s, in the northeast and the went to South Carlina and up thru Kentucky and tenn and into Indiana , I am5 grnaration in my family after they came to Indiana.

This is Kellie McCarns daughter, Cheyenne. I read over your posts, and I couldn't believe it. I still have to tell my mom about this when she gets home from work. My grandmother is Barbara Twork. But she got married and her last name is Lazarowicz. I am thirteen years old and going into the eigth grade this September. Please reply and tell me who you are, because I am very interested in my family tree.

I am searching for my TWORK relatives and I have found this message board, thought I would send my own message just to see if there is some connection at all.

You mentioned a Barbara and Mary Twork, are they the daughters of Andrew M Twork and Christina Jessie nee Wilson? If so then they would be my aunts. They also had a brother Andrew W Twork. Christina Jessie nee Wilson was the sister of my scots grandfather. My grandfather and his siblings emigrated to USA in 1920's.

It would be wonderful to make contact with a relative!

I wait for your reply, hoping you may be able to help me in some way or another.

I, just receivec a family history from a professioal and it says that we are Scotland and our variant is Mckernan.
It also gives the Scot name for our family . Has anyone have any proof to this
I was told we were Irish and i just received a lot of information from someone in Australia. In fact there is a family steel compant by the name of Mckern there . I sure would like to hear if anyone has any info on this

Looking for information on Peter McCarn, born 1824 in Ireland, married to Ellen McGuigan, born 1831 in Ireland. Peter immigrated to the US in 1883. Though there is no proof, family lore indicates the McCarn name was originally Mccarron. Thanks.

TOWN OF MUSCODA

ALFRED J. McCARN & CO., bankers, established 1874. Alfred J. McCarn was born in Wayne Co., N. Y., March 27, 1838; is a son of James and Margaret Failing, both natives of New York State, and whose ancestors settled in the State near New York City, before the Revolutionary war. The great-grandfather of Alfred J. belonged to the New York militia when the Revolutionary war commenced, and fought for the cause of American independence. In 1856, the family moved to Davenport, Iowa, where Alfred remained until the autumn of 1857, when he came to Platteville and engaged as clerk in the Bank of Grant Co. (which was one of the old State banks), which position he held until 1860, when he bought a small book store, and engaged in the book and stationery business. He enlisted April 21, 1861, in three months' service; the company not being accepted unless for three years, he returned again to business, and again enlisted Aug. 14, 1862, in Co. A, 33d W. V. I., and was appointed Quartermaster Sergeant, in which capacity he served until February, 1865, when he was promoted to Quartermaster of the regiment. He was mustered out with the regiment at Vicksburg, Aug. 9, 1865. He was married in January, 1868, to Olive McGonigal, a native of this county, by whom he has two children - one boy and one girl. His father was born in February, 1801, and died near Animosa, Iowa, October, 1880.

I am trying to find some info on my grandmothers side of the family. Her name wes Lillie A. McCarn, and her father was William McCarn. She married Harry E. Brownell 3/22/1911 at her fathers house in Trowbridge, Mich. She was born 6/16/1885 in Trowbridge and died 9/21/1968 in Plainwell Mich. She had 2 surviving brothers, Floyd and Myron(Ted) McCarn. I have a McCarn in my genealogy that emigrated to Maine with his wife children about 1890. The fact is that the name was McCarron before this when they lived in PEI,Canada. I am having difficulty locating any other family members but believe they came from Ireland originally. I do not have a clue why he changed all the familys name to McCarron changed his from Patrick to Peter...............My GHOST!!!!

My McCarns were McCarron in PEI but changed to this name when coming to USA. Patrick McCarron is the only name I have in that genealogy and he was born abt1831 married Ellen McGuigan in PEI 1853. Was your McCarn actually McCarron and if so do you know why it was changed. Your Nancy could be a sibling to Patrick's father according to the birth date. Thanks Denise

I am searchind for anyone who may have some info on John E. McArn born ABT 1819 and died ABT 1904.. have some info stating he was born in NC and some saying AL....
Also I am searching for a Rosa Bell Williams.. that married Albert Francis McArn.. Rosa was born ABT 1872 and Died ABT 1928 in NC.. She lived in AL with Albert for years.. when my Great Grandfather Albert passed away Rosa packed her and all surviving children and moved from AL to NC... just doesnt make sense for a single woman to move 6 head of children several states over ALONE... Florence married Sam Coziahr, this is all we know. Their children were Anna, Mike, Helen, Gusty, Dorothy, Sammy and Randal, but we have not dates or where. Not sure if Anna was unwed, but we have Robert Donald Coziahr b.7/12/23 d.3/10/1987,listed as her son, and Lena as a daughter born in the 1920's. Any help from this point would be greatly appreciated, I know it is a long reach, but we would really like some answers! Thanks!
