I have just seen your post - I to have McCarthy and Leary / O'Leary family connection from Inchigeelagh, Cork. My g.g.grandmother Ellen McCarthy married Jeremiah Leary on the 25 October 1834 in Inchigeelagh. But that's all I know about my McCarthy side.
I believe Jeremiah Leary's parents were Patrick Leary and Margaret Cronin.
Jeremiah and Ellen had as far as I know, 4 children, but I believe there were more. Two of their sons, John and Cornelius immigrated out to Australia - John first in 1864 and Cornelius later in 1876.
Could we be in someway related, I'm going to Inchigeelagh this September for the Clan Gathering and hoping to find a bit more out on my McCarthy / O'Leary Ancestors.
