I'm searching for the parents of my wife's grandfather, Edward Adye McCarthy, who was born in Wexford.

He went to Trinity College, Dublin, played rugby for Leinster, and played in the first Irish international against Wales at Landsdowne Road in 1882.

His first wife was Harriet Barbara Elizabeth Bewley (1860-1900), who he married in 1890 in London. The Bewley's are an important Anglo-Irish family with roots in the Norman conquest.

Edward became the racing correspondent Robin Goodfellow for the Daily Mail, retiring in 1929.

His father's name was Michael; that's all I know.

Any information (or pointers) would be greatly appreciated.
