I show a different first name for Elizabeth McCauley's husband. I have a copy of a death certificate for Thomas Joseph Powers, b. 15 Feb 1893. He died in a railway wreck on the date you stated and he was married to Elizabeth Clare McCauley, also on the date you gave. I don't know if this would help your search, having the correct name. I got a copy of the death certificate on the SEEKING MICHIGAN website. My copy of their wedding record was from FAMILY SEARCH. I am interested in the POWERS surname. I wonder if we might compare information?
Mary Anne

Hello,

On the information about Clark Rowan McCaulley, that's my husband's (Shane Clark McCaulley) great, great grandfather. We live in altoona now, but quite a lot of McCaulleys still live in Tyrone, PA. Including Rowan William which is my husband's father, Elizabeth was Rowan's grandmother.

There are realitives still in Bellwood PA, but mostly they have moved outside of that area. The former 'Rolls Meat Market' in Tipton PA, was founded by Rowan Clark McCaulley (Roll) to his family. Rowan Clark died in 1962. He had three boys with his marriage to Jean McCann. There names are: Rowan, Gary, Terry.

Thank you!
M. McCaulley

Snoblazze, Welcome and you are starting out on an adventure... the road you may travel may be eventful and full of surprises!
Before you begin, in order to help you, do you have an idea of the Town or County in New Jersey? And, if you have any dates, even if only a death date, if you are not sure you can put a c for circa before the year, for example, c1920. If your McCauley had a first name, or was married, the maiden name is helpful for the wife, I did not have mine and only knew the first name so not to worry... I've made some great connections! Best of luck, give us a little more information, please, -thanks! Sue

Extract from Butler County, Ohio history website.

At Iron Bridge, the elder Baker married a second time, his wife being Nancy Howell McCauley, daughter of John and Nancy (Howell) McCauley. She was the daughter of Griffith Howell, of Baltimore, and sister of John Howell, said to be the architect of the old Baltimore courthouse destroyed in a riot in that city.

That's a big family!
Here is my McCauley descent:
Me-->Frank Lee Watson, Jr.->Frank Lee Watson, Sr.->Norval Asbury Watson(father) & Frances McCauley (mother); now following Frances McCauley->Garrett(Sandy) McCauley (father)->Daniel McCauley (father). That is as far back as I have on the McCauley family. I was told that Garrett (Sandy) McCauley was actually adopted by the McCauley family as an infant when his Cherokee Indian parents were killed in a battle. He was found by the McCauley family and adopted. Carol

Murder and suicide of Peter McCauley and son

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 19 August 1892...

Terrible Double Tragedy

Liberty, Missouri, August 14 - Smithville, seventeen miles from this city, was the scene of a terrible double tragedy last evening. Peter McCauley, a farmer living near Smithfield, came to town early in the day and began drinking soon after his arrival. By evening he was drunk and quarrelsome and was arrested for disturbing he peace. His son came to town in the afternoon and heard of his father's disgrace. He went to a hardware store and purchased a revolver and cartridges. As he went up the street he met his father in charge of an officer and without a moments hesitation he pulled the weapon and shot his father killing him instantly. Before the officer could interfere he sent a bullet crashing through his own brain.

On Phillips land is the burial of 4 people. Supposedly this was a family that died during the swine flu epidemic of 1918. I have found no death records in Texas, nor other county records. Do you know anything about these McCauleys? Thanks. Doyle Phillips

Yes, I agree we are related for sure.
Your Grandfather and my father, Martin Thomas McCauley (1911-2001) were brothers, the only two boys in that large brood. I think there were 9 sisters and one other that died at birth, but not positive of that.
I remember Uncle Ed and Aunt Betty had six kids, 5 boys and one girl. I only met them a few times as kids. They all lived in Brooklyn and we lived out on LI. I had one brother, Martin Jr. passed away in 2002, as did my mother, Kathryn Healy McCauley
I believe I found another thread just 15 mins ago....Sally McCauley.
Nice to find someone. We'll have to explore more
Regards, Eileen

Hi again, I've spent the last couple of hours adding some things to my tree and checking out yours.
Your photos are great, BTW. If your father, Raymond was the only policeman in his family, I think I remember seeing an article on the front page of the NY Times sometime back in the 70's. Was he a mounted policeman in Central Park back then? The article was about a policeman named McCauley (and I think Raymond) who apprenhended some criminals in the Park. I just remember thinking that he was probably my cousin!
Anyway, I've also been digging thru some old papers and notes...I sat my parents down in the early 1990's and probed for all info they could remember. That time I wrote it down. So I will post it under notes or whatever makes sense sometime this week. I have married names of all sisters who married as well as number of kids. Other tidbits as well.
I live on the Upper East Side, East 77th St. Are you in Brooklyn?
Eileen
