The photo in unidentified except for the names. There are 4 people in the photo (all children). Sallie is the last name listed and if she is the child who is sitting on the chair she is the youngest - maybe about 7 to 9 years. The photo might have been taken in the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is on card stock with a decorative border and the children are sitting in front of a painted outdoor scene. You are the only one who has expressed any interest.

Hello,

I was wondering if you had more info on Dolcena Rose. My husband descends through her brother, Wilburn Rose. Actually, they may be half siblings through their mother Perlina "Lina" Elkins Rose because her husband John Rose supposedly died in the Civil War, however she as well as her brother James were both born after the war. The marriage record from 30 Aug 1888 (Logan Co WV) does not list a father for Dolcena, but lists her mother as Polina Rose.

She married Thomas Lindsay who was born 1833 and died 1900 also buried in Mingo cemetary, They would be my GGGgrandparents and very interested to know more about them, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just saw your post. My maiden name was McCloud. Looking for any info beyond Nathaniel McCloud and extended family.
My Nathaniel was born either in Rockingham county,Va or in Scotland, I belive in 1786. Nathaniel was the father of Stephen Andrew born 1822/23, my gr gr grandpa. I have a Uriah born 30 Sept 1856 but only lived til 3 Nov 1856. He was a brother to my gr grandpa Jacob Clark born 23 Jun 1852.
Maybe there is another Uriah somewhere, I'll have to keep looking.

I am trying to find information on my great-grandfather and great-grandmother. They were married and lived in Vernon Parish Louisana. Her name was Ollie Parker 9/2/1878 - 6/12/1959. They had several children. My grandfather was Pratt McCloud. The only other ones I know are Archie MCloud, Jr. and John McCloud.

Hi Debbie, So sorry I haven't been in touch. A lot has happened in the last year and I haven't had much time for research. Thanks for the info. I don't know if I told you, bit someone responded to me last year, said they were related to Henry & Mary. She said Mary remaried ( I have the name in my records) to someone in Sussex. I had such a hard time understanding her that I quit trying. I asked her some questions and she never answered. I'm sorry but I don't think she was playing with a full deck! I would imagine that somewhere we will make the connection. As you can see I don't even have time to check my e-mail today is the first in a month. I hope you have a Merry Christmas. I hope the new year brings more time.

You and I have corresponded in the past but seem to have fallen out of touch. I am still in search of more info regarding my ancestor Jacob McCloud, born about 1828 in Orange Co., NY, and his parents, Jacob McCloud (or MacLeod ?) and Anna Parliman (or Parliament?). I have a tidbit of info about your Henry McCloud -- in April of this year, a kind person posted the 1825 Monroe, Orange Co. census listing on the Orange County, NY board. On it is the name of "Henery" (sic) McCloud. So now you know Henry was still around as of 1825.

If Henry's wife, Mary Odell, possibly remarried after Henry's death -- do you have any idea whether Henry was perhaps much older than Mary? I still think there may be some link between Henry and the senior Jacob McCloud / MacLeod, who was born sometime between 1790 and 1800 -- possibly brothers, possibly father (Henry) and son (Jacob).

Thanks very much to anyone who can share any information about these McCloud individuals!

Hi Lenora, Thanks so much for the reply! I have come across Mary & Dustin in my research, I think I found their marriage on Ancestry. I haven't been able to connect yet, but feel strongly there is one. I go back as far as Henry McCloud b. probaly the later part of 1700's. I first found him in Monroe NY in 1810 & 1820 nothing before or after. His son David McCloud b. NY lived in Lafayette, Sussex Co. NJ. His brother William is my GGGrandfather who remained in Orang Co. NY (Warwick/Greenwood Lake). I have come to a stand still. I did find someone who claims there related, and who said Henry's wife Mary Odell remarried after Henry died. I have trouble communicating with this person, I never seem to get any answers, I hate saying this but I don't think they are all there. She swears she is related, but when I asked for her info she never sent it. I will send what I have on my family(I haven't updated in awhile but all major info is there. Please keep in touch.

hi you must have the wrong mcloud family i am the ggg gran daughter of mollie mc cloud. this is on my mothers side of the family and and the mcclouds came from the pettingall family. her father was uriah mc cloud.
maude was my gg grandmother on my mothers side of the family and she only had one son named lowell, and had two daughters genie and elinor. so i think you may have me confused with another mcloud family. thanks kelley keiser

McClouds in Sevier county Arkansas in 1850-60

I am looking for info on Norman McCloud who lived in Sevier County AR in 1850-60. He was born in NC around 1810 and lived in TN, MS, AR. In AR until at least 1860. Could have moved to TX in 1861. Sevier is on the TX border. In his household in 1860 is Sarah McCloud born in TN around 1838. Her complete name could be Sarah Campbell McCloud. A Sarah McCloud married Joel Ebenezer Hundley in 1861 in Ashley county AR. I would like to know if these are the same women.

I am looking for information on the line of Donald Hugh McLeod, b. in AB, Canada married Lucille Sharp, he was born in aprox 1908 and died May 3/1987. Lucille died in the 1990's. His father was Hugh McLeod born in Edinburough, Scotland, no dates, married Catherine or Katherine, also of Edinburough, Scotland, but unfortunatly, no dates. Hugh was known as tinker, and they had a son named Mac. THIS IS ALL I HAVE ON THE FAMILY. Please HELP!!!

My maiden name was Mc Cloud, and I was always told we had Irish descent but now I wonder if we go back further, its Scottish? Sounds like you have some relable sources and have found out more info than I have! I wonder if we could talk more, maybe we are related?!!!

My grandfather was John Robbie, his father was Jacob Clark, then Stephen Andrew, his father was Nathaniel. I have not been able to find any more? I read your post on the Macleod/McCloud name change and found that very interesting! Also your PICTURES!!! I would love to see or have copies of these McCloud pictures. Also Marsha is my 1st cousin! If you can't tell I am SOOOO excited to see these. Anyone else that I've emailed lives in the US so Red Deer is not far from me in Swift Current. Do you have other info that you could share? Are you related?

j william mccloud from scotland. i beleive the spelling from where hes from is baddidarach in assyant sutherland scotland. i found pics of ardvek castle in assyant. this is the castle of the mcleods of lewis i beleive. if you search for the castle you should get to them ok. found this town name in the search and sounds like a good match.

Patterson McCloud was my greatgrand father. His twin was Madison Mcloud. My grandmother was Alice McCloud Meager she was married to John Meager. Parrtson was married to Jenny Bell Webster. they lived in Bellaire OH. where they both died. Patterson died 3/12/1924 and Madison in 1924. Madison was married to Orilla(Barris) they had a son named Alonzo on 3/11/1890

Hi Marvin! glad to hear from you yes my grandfather was your fathers brother. the mia brother i spoke about is Leland. i have a little info on him but not much at all. i will try to give you a call a soon as i can. Grandpa Lowell passed away i think in 1974 or 1975 during an operation to repair an ulcer.He was a wonderful grandpa for the short time we were around him. I found his sister velma in missouri and thelma i think lives in florida, lloyd passed away in 2006 and nobody knew it until the summer of 2007.uncle lawrence is recovering from a stroke and i have not heard how he is doing in a while. the email i normally use is nicolelc30@msn.com.i have 5 children 3 girls and 2 boys.

this laura had a brother named uriah that died under 1 yr of age.

I am researching sue Mcloud (Mnroe) Cherokee Indian in GA and was given land in FL that had been homesteaded. Her father was fulll blooded Cherokee.
William H Monroe married to Nancy Bowen, had the following children
Lena married to John H Pursley buried in CO am doing the research for Ona Lee Pursley, Leah, Emma Sue, Paul, Frank. Eugene was a half brother, Lagena. Robielia, and others.

My McCloud/McLeod/MacLeod line did come from Scotland from the Dunvegon Castle on the Isle of Skye. In short, after the war with England and Ireland some of the McLeod's went to Ireland and I have forgotten why they were sent there but my McLeod was a protestant who fell in love with a Catholic lass and I understand that he changed the spelling to McCloud to project his natiionality to that of an Irish Catholic in order to marry his love. When they came to America they continued to use that spelling.
I have been to the Isle of Skye to visit the Dunvegon Castle and in speaking with the folks there it seems that both spellings can be traced back to there, at least my line can. I am of 4th generation into the USA so may be a bit easier than some but has been difficult to sort but getting a bit easier with the use of the computer and all the informatiion so much more easily reachered. Most of my information is packed due to a couple recent moves as well as having had a stroke which lets me forget names and places at times so need to refer to my notes from before it happened.I have used RootsWeb for years and now with all the information being merged with Ancestry.com, is great to have it at your finger tops instead of having to travel to the areas to glean it yourself from the libraries and other places where the information is stored and appreciated. I have McClouds in Iowa too. Do you know the town or county that your McClouds were in? I do not recognise the names you have listed but may connect somewhere. Mine were and some still are, in corning and other towns in Adams co.
