McClung, Gray and Mackie Philadelphia

I am seeking information on the Family of William McClung who emigrated from Tyrone, Ireland to Philadelphia around 1850. William had three surving children, Margaret Vinnetta McClung, Roberta Alexander McClung and Mary Jane McClung. I don't know who the girls married but Robert married Helena Brenzel. They had 4 children -Fred (died young) Fred Brenzel McClung, Elsie (married Frank Frederick daughter Dorothy)and Earl Alexander (married Warner daughters Alice and Katherine).

A cousin Jennie Barr married Thomas Gray with Children Samuel B Gray(He had 11 children), Henry T Gray, Irving W Gray, a fourth I have no name for.

A further Cousin Elizabeth McClung married Philip Mackie.

Any information on any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

I am seeking information on a number of brothers named McClung who emigrated from Clogher, Tyrone, Ireland at different dates between 1880 and 1900. William b1856, John, Robert and Henry. William I believe married Barbara Robb and were later joined by her father Thomas Robb.

Any information would be appreciated. I have reason to believe that William, John and Henry had no children.

Richmond and his three wives (Mary "Lucy" Lewis was his third wife) and am trying to locate a picture(s) of Mary Lewis. Any help greatly appreciated.

WYOMING RANCHER'S SUICIDE.
Insane Deed of George McClung, Near
Sundance.
Cheyenne, Wyo., Dec. 31. - Word received
from Sundance last night stated that a
well-to-do ranchman named George C.
McClung, living on Mason creek, near
Sundance, had committed suicide by tak-
ing strychnine. He deliberately poured
the contents of a small vial into the
palm of his hand and drank it. He in-
formed his wife of what he had done and
medical aid was summoned, but Mc-
Clung refused to take a thing unless it
was more strychnine. He suffered no
pain and conversed with the members
of his family up to within three minutes
of the time of his death. Family troubles
of years standing are said to have de-
ranged the suicide's mind.

Our Nathaniel M. McClung was b-10/1831 in Alabama. He married Mahulda "Addie" Reed. She b- Sep 1841 in Alabama.
Resided in Fayette and Limestone County in Alabama. Children were :Mariah "Ann" McClung b- 1861, Sidney McClung b- 1867, John M. My wife's grandmother was Ida Lenora McClung, dau. of Nathaniel M. McClung. They resided in Fayette and Limestone County in Alabama. This family ( not necessarily the McClungs) did have connections in both Lincoln and Giles Counties in Tennessee.

I unfortunately do not know anything on her parents other than what her death certificate says...her father is JJ McClung...it's speculated his name was Jessee J. McClung.

Check out Rootsweb.. There is a guy who has a family tree with her in it,that just might be able to help you. His name is Steven Rutherford. You should be able to find him under his name also. I hope this helps. I have looked for Ora in my family tree but so far have not found her.. Good Luck. Let me know what you find out.

I am looking for help on tracking down my roots past my 2nd Greatgrandmother Ora F. McClung.

According to her death certificate she was born July 1, 1880, died July 14, 1958 and her father's name was J.J. McClung.

She was married to James Walter Rutherford and their children are:

1.Lurie Myrtle (This is my line.)
2.Jesse Newton
3.Glennie Lillian
4.Flora Elba
5.Vada Opal
6.Lona Belle
7.Alta Laverne

Have you tried the McClung Collection, Knoxville TN? It's the McClung Historical Library and is referred to as the McClung Collection. It's part of the Knox Co. TN library system located downtown Knoxville. Largest genealogy library in the South. Google it. It has an online catalog so you might be able to find your Hill Family information using the online card catalog.

The Charles McClung that ya'll are discussing IS the brother of my GGG Grandfather Josiah.. I have in my posession a copy of a letter written by Mahala, Charles & Josiah's Sister.. This letter is Post marked Mt. Moriah Ark.. It is written to their sister Mary that is still back in Ga..

Mahala speaks of their mother Jemima passing over.. I will have to find the letter because it states when the letter was written.. Early 1850's I think..

At this point, and I don't have the letter in front of me and am going off memory, Charles & I believe his wife name was mentioned as Margaret are still in Ga., but are coming to Ark.. Mahala states that Josiah and his Brother-In-Law, James Henry Lee Wesley have all ready gone to Texas.. I have the exact date in a pension application where Josiah's daughter Amy applied for a Confederate Pension for her husband John Watson Allen.. In the application it ask her how long had she been a resident of the State Of Texas.. She give the exact date they arrived in Mt. Carmel..

She relates the prices of vegetable, stocks, etc. which is quite interesting.. I translated the letter the best I could because, as most here know, people wrote what they heard..

If anyone is interested in a copy in its original state I can scan it and send it to you, or if you send me a mailing address I will send it that way.. I also have Josiah's will that was probated in 1888.. I can send that also..

PS: I have documented this line back to Jemima.. Many say that "a James McClung" is the father.. I can't and haven't seen anyone else that can document this fact..

PSS: I descend through Josiah's 1st. wife Mary Fletcher who is buried "somewhere in Ga".. I have pictures of Josiah, Margaret Rister, and all there children's headstones.. I'm less than 30 miles from Harris Creek Cemetery where they are buried..

Has anyone heard of this? I have asked around and around in the Tennesse County libraries, ...The Surname Hill is what I am working on,..but references are made to this publication repeatedly and I find no clue as to what it is, a book? online? private book?
