The McCormick line appears long and vast. My father has a wonderful
breakdown of the family line. I must obtain a copy. As I understand it
3 McCormick Brothers immigrated from Ireland. Each line was distinct with
1) Being the father of Cyrus Hall and of significant notariety (Farm impliments)
2) Being the founder of the McCormick clan
which, since the 1800's evolved in and
around the state of Indiana, mainly farming/mining familys (My line)
3) Being a line I am not familiar with

I've been working on my family line for many years, and continue to hit a dead end. The story goes that our McCormick's are related to the McCormick's that invented the Reaper. Our side of the McCormick line has died out, but I would like to make the connection with other McCormicks. My gggrandmother was Mary Ellen McCormick, whose father was William McCormick died 9 May 1871 at the age of 55 and was born in Dublin, Ireland. His brother is buried by him Patrick McCormick died 19 Dec. 1892 he was age 60 also born in Dublin, Ireland. William's wife was Mary Ann NALLEN died Sept. 26, 1888 at the age of 70. Any help would be great...Thank you

Father of Cyrus McCormick

jelm29  (View posts) Posted: 4 Jul 2000 9:23PM GMT
Are you sure the father of Cyrus McCormick of reaper fame was named Cyrus? All the info I have seen says his father was Robert McCormick and his mother was Martha Sanderson.Robert was a brother of my gr.gr.gr.grandfather James McCormick. A lot of my info comes from the Family Tree Maker website: www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/a/r/Debbie--R-Barnes/ODT1-00... which is a list of 14 generations of descendants from Owen McCormick, including Cyrus McCormick
