THANKS DIANE. I DO THINK THERE HAS TO BE A CONNECTION BUT I'M SURE IT MUST PREDATE CANADA. MY SAMUEL WAS BORN APPROX. 1813 IN IRELAND AND DIED NOV. 24 1888 AND IS BURIED IN CRAMAHE TWP. HIS WIFE WAS NAMED SARAH. HIS CHILDREN WERE GEORGE, CHARLES, WILLIAM HENRY, AND JOHN MCCRACKEN. I HAVE VERY LITTLE INFOR ON THE WILLIAM WHOM I BELIEVE TO BE SAMUEL'S OLDER BROTHER AND WHO LIVED WITH SAMUEL AND IN CRAMAHE TWP FOR SOME TIME.
FUNNY THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY SIMILAR NAMES. I DO KNOW THAT ALL OF THESE EARLY MCCRACKENS WERE SPELLED MCCRACKIN AND THEN CHANGED IN THE NEXT GENERATION. I have tried to make a connection between my Samuel who shows up in Cramahe Twp. Ont in 1839 and the Roseneath McCrackens. There appears to be no connection at this point unless you may have something that goes back to Ireland to show a connection. Let me know if you do.
