Nimrod's parents were James McCracken and Mary Smith. James emigrated from Scotland. Nimrod may have been born in Alabama. Nimrod's children were remarkably inconsistant in reporting their father's birthplace in the censuses! Nimrod died Dec 12 1852, only about 6 weeks after having arrived in Polk County, Oregon.
