I am looking for the parents of Deborah MacCubin b. 1729, who married Edward Dorsey 1725-1782. She is suppose to be the daughter of Zachariah MacCubbin 1674-1753 and Susanna Nicholson. However, I can find no record of them having a child named Deborah.

Hi there i think i can help you well my step-dad is William McCubbin - 1958-youngest born in Dumfries, his father Thomas Peter McCubbin - 1911 from wigtownshire scotland, he had 8 children so here the names- Agnes McCubbin lives in Canada, Jean McCubbin also lives in canada, Elsie McCubbin, Helen McCubbin, Tommy McCubbin, Robert McCubbin, Williamina Charlotte McCubbin, and they kept the William name in the family but not sure why then he told me that something happened so one part of the family was not talking to the other so their is history behind it, but please keep intouch with more info as i'm interested in more. I'm trying to find info on the parentage of this ancestor. He was born about 1821 in Maryland, married Elizabeth Shoemaker from DC around 1870 and shortly thereafter moved to Missouri. He died in 1913 in Missouri. They had nine children who survived infancy: John, Charles, Joseph, Alice, Nannie, Ann Marie, Elizabeth, Jennie and James.

Searching for information re a marriage of Clement Wilson McCubbin born 1835 in Ayrshire Scotland to a 'Miss Gross' (first name unknown) sometime in the early 1860s.
Clement was a steward on the Cunard steam ship SS Corsica and died of yellow fever in 1867 aged abt 32 years old.The lived in Jersey City.

I can provide you with a bit more information that I hope is useful. John McCubbin Born on the 11.11.1870, married Maggie Ferguson on the 17.11.1903, in Glasgow.

Jane Forrest McCubbin was born on the 13.12.1904, in Barrhead, Glasgow.

Maggie Ferguson was born on the 9th of May 1875, at Thornlie Farm Wishaw in Scotland.

John's parents are John McCubbin (born 02.02.1843)and Elizabeth Jane Lawson (born 27.11.1840),

They had 8 children, Jane - 1867, Mary - 1869, John - 1870, Joseph - 1872, Elizabeth - approx 1875, Thomas - 1877, Sarah - 1879, & Robert 1882.

I hope this information is useful to you. Unfortunetely I have no information about jane's Decendants, so in the meantime, if you have found out who Jane married, etc. I would be very interested in hearing it.

I have Andrew McCubbin (b. c. 1810) married to Jane Shennan (b. c. 1806) who had at least 2 children: Ann (b. 1833) and Joseph (b. c. 1841) - both children born Keir.

Joseph married Mary Armstrong of Annan in 1885. They had at least 3 children: William Armstrong (1883 - Troqueer), Andrew (1886) and Jane (c. 1888)

William married Agnes Hoatson in 1909 and they went to live in Bo'ness where they had 4 boys: William Armstrong (b.c. 1914); Joseph (b.c. 1920); George (b. 1924) and Andrew Ebenezer (b.c. 1922).

Can you see any connection?

My McCubbins from Virginia -Tennessee - Kentucky to the town of St. Clair & Franklin Co., Missouri to Oregon, Washington & etc. They were in Franklin Co., Missouri in about 1852 before leaving for Oregon, got to Oregon in Oct. of 1852. I haven't found any McCubbins in Arkansas, but there's still a lot I can't find on my McCubbins.The surname Furlow doesn't sound familiar at this time.

I also have the surname NEVITT who married a McCubbins in Franklin Co., Missouri in 1851.

The book has been located and returned. I cannot say for sure if the book is at the two historical sites. I received a letter from the author's widow that her husband had indeed put copies of his book in the historical libraries, but can't confirm if they are still there. "Blind Nick" was born in 1780 in Rockingham, NC and married "Betsy" Bloyd. They arrived in Green County in 1806. There was a small reference to your Nicholas McCubbin being the son of James and Mary "Polly" Cook McCubbin. And also that a daughter of Nicholas and Matilda, Susan Matilda, married Robert Crittenden McCubbin, grandson on Blind Nick.

Totally confused! I need someone's help to straighten out David L. MCCUBBINs. Mine was born Nov. 30, 1876 MO. He married an Ollie (perhaps Olivia) b. Jan. 1882 MO. Various census records, i.e. 1900 Jenkins Barry Co. MO list a David L. McCUBBIN b. Oct. 1875 MO, wife Ollive, son Jessie E. b. Oct. 1899 and bro., Walter b. May 1880 MO.

Now my problem. Looking at various submitters data online the only son mentioned for David and Olivia is Earl. What happened to Oral? I have Oral born Mar. 16, 1904 MO, died July 1974 Lawrence Co., MO. He married Wilma F. MASON.

Very interesting reading. Yes, a lot to chew on & a lot of hard work you have done.. I read it once so far & am going back to read over & over again, as it may contain clues? I still can not find my ggg-Grandfather James McCubbins born abt. 1810-1815 in Virginia, married to China Unknown, can't find his correct parents or siblings! I can't even find his grave in North Salem, Marion Co. OR. (which is now considered Keizer, Marion Co., OR.) I finally did find James, China McCubbins & family at ancestry.com in the 1850 census living
Glaze/Travelers Repose, Franklin Co., Missouri. Ancestry.com had spelled there name MCCARBBINS!! James & family left Franklin Co., MO. in 1852 same time as William Richmond & Nancy (Bilyeu) McCubbin did & made it to Oregon in Oct. 1852 James settled Marion Co., OR. & William settled Clackamas Co., OR. I feel so stronly the James & William Richmond McCubbins are brothers, but just can not prove for nothing.

Kentucky McCubbin family from Dumfriesshire/Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland

I've just recently discovered a family I've been researching from Dumfriesshire and Kirkcudbrightshire (and who can be tracked back to the early 18th century) who appear to have emigrated to the USA and are found on the 1880 census in South Elkhorn, Fayette, Kentucky.

They are James McCubbin and Isabella (nee Waugh), of Dunscore, Dumfries, but living in Urr Kirkcudbrightshire in abt 1860 and their children:

William b.1848
Mary Swan b.1850
Marrion b.1854 (male)
Jessie b.1856
Maggie b.1864

I do have some indication which suggests that William might have married Rachel Elizabeth [..?..] and that he died in 1906 in Lexington, Fayette, KY.

Also that possibly his son married Jessie Robertson (b.1879) who later married Gottleib Wilhelm Krebs Linder Urfer.
