mccurtain emails

I would like to exchange emails with any interested mccurtains to share information. It seems many of us have received a copy of the Inez journal on the family. The next step is to get paperwork to back it up with...birth certificates, marriage certificates, census rolls, military records, ship manifests, etc. Has anyone gotten ahold of older family photos? I would love to see some of Houston and Ida McCurtain, as well as Houstons' siblings. Any leads?
lets share it!

I have been doing a bit of research on our family history, so please contact me if you would like more info. My mother Leevern was your grandfathers sister.
Ida Hughed

Ida Hughes was my Great grandmother, she was married to Houston McCurtain of Oklahoma. She was his second wife, they had many children. We are cousins. Albert McCurtain, Sr. was their oldest child and my grandfather. His youngest son, Don McCurtain, is my father. Mac, as Albert Sr. was called, had a second wife, Marrietta Durrant, who kept in touch with Ida until her death. She once told me that when Ida died, the police came and informed her, as they could not locate any of Ida's relatives. My father remembers Ida from his childhood, fondly. I would like to to correspond with you, I am trying to put together my family tree.

Are you still looking for family photos? I have several that we received after our uncle raymond passed away - it appears that uncle ray didn't like uncle albert for some reason as can been seen by the fact that raymond scratched albert's face off many of the pictures - I think we have some that grandbibber sent to mother in her backyard in colorado - I will see what I can find if you still want them - my mother was your grandfather's oldest sister (5 years younger than albert) Leevern McCurtain Bullard

I have information that my gg-grandmother's name was Luty McCurtain (I think Luty was probably a nickname). She was married to an Allie Cannon (Allie was possibly also a nickname). They had at least one son William Oscar Cannon who was born at Coal Hill, AR. Would love to hear from anyone who has ties. Thanks, Gina

Randolph McCurtain

Hello. Is anyone out there a close relative of Randolph Hagood McCurtain, born Fort Gibson, Oklahoma 1902, died in Purcell, OK, in 1950. Married to Eloise Evans (who died in 1966), had two children. Don't know the names of the children. I am a music history researcher interested in finding out more about Mr. McCurtain who for a time in the 1920s, and possibly beyond, led a jazz band in and around Oklahoma. He recorded once, for Okeh Records in 1925.
Thank you -- Kevin Coffey

I am interested in the connection of my mother's family (Mickle) to the Jackson McCurtain family. My mother was a native of Wilburton and her grandfather, William ("Billy") Mickle claimed to be the first white settler in the Wilburton area. He served as a Captain in Jackson McCurtain's Confederate Cavalry. My mother left me a tintype marked on the reverse, "Lou & Ida McCurtain". (daughters of Jackson, I believe) I'd like to determine the identity of the two young men (from their looks, obviously McCurtains!) No date on the tintype but looks to be c.1885 or so, judging from the apparent ages of Lou and Ida. May have been at the time of Jackson's death. On the Mickle side of my family we have both Choctaw and Cherokee blood. I've posted the image at the beginning of my web page. http://home.earthlink.net/~boiseantiques
