This family was from White Clay Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware.
In 1801, at least five of their sons, William, Eli, Smith, John, and Joseph, headed west, settling in Beaver County north of the Ohio and east of the Beaver rivers. To my understanding, four of the brothers remained, while William left after some time and continued on to Richland County, Ohio.
I am a ggg grandson of Eli (b. 10/23/1788).
Many (if not all) of the postings under this McDanel surname listing are descendants from this line.
I checked the rootsweb surname mailing lists, and they do not have a correct mailing list for us with the correct spelling of our surname (they do have a McDanal). If you check the postings, you will see I first posted in 1999. Since then my email has changed on several occasions, and unfortunately, I was not getting notifications of the postings.
Anyway, let me finally get to the point. I am contemplating establishing a McDanel site at myfamily.com (another ancestry.com site). It would allow us access by invitation only and would give us a place to congregate, exchange information, post photos, relate stories, upload gedcoms or rtf files, etc. However, since it is a yearly subscription service, I would like to know if there is enough interest to make it worth my while (and money). Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
if you are interested.
