Gordon D. "Mac" McDaniel Jr., 67, of Vermilion, Ohio died Thursday, July 10, 2008, in EMH Regional Health Center, after a sudden illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1941, in Cherokee, Kansas, he had been a Vermilion area resident for the past 18 years, moving from Zanesville, Ohio and growing up in Cumberland, Ohio. He was a sheet metal worker for 35 years with the Local Union 24 in Columbus and Local Union 33 in Vermilion.
He was a member of the Ely Masonic Lodge 424 in Vermilion and the Motor Cycle Riders Association. He enjoyed motorcycles and photography, especially capturing wedding moments.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kelly McDaniel; mother, F. Katharine nee Andrews McDaniel; daughter, Nikki McDaniel of Elyria; three sons, Rod (Amy) McDaniel of Zanesville, Ohio Tim (Tina) McDaniel of Hopewell, Ohio; step-son Sean (Jenna) Poole of Vermilion and son Kristopher McDaniel of Vermilion, Ohio; three brothers, Tom (Laura) McDaniel of Roy, Wash., Denny (Mary) McDaniel of Cumberland and Mike (Joanne) McDaniel of Byesville, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Megan, Josh, Hanna, Hunter, Corey, Darius, Bryce and Delilah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon D. McDaniel Sr.
Calling hours will begin at 3 p.m. with funeral services at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, with the Rev. Guy Morton officiating.
Calling hours will also begin at noon with services at 1 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Main St., Cumberland, Ohio with Pastor Jim Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Cemetery.
