As a McConnell researcher, I'd like to encourage McDaniel researchers and others researching names that are considered variants of MacDonald to participate in the Clan Donald DNA Project. Males who carry the surname McDaniel or a variant may participate by joining the project. Females and males who are interested in researching McDaniel lines but don't carry the Y chromosome of those lines may participate by encouraging McDaniel males from those lines to participate.

I encourage all McDaniel researchers to visit the outstanding website of the Clan Donald DNA Project. Even if you are not interested in testing, you might find out something useful, especially if your line is related to the MacDonald clan chiefs:

This is an excellent time to look into Y chromosome DNA testing. For some dads, testing for themselves or a relative would make an excellent Father's Day gift.
