You can identify the men whose haplotypes are plotted on the network charts by hovering over the dots representing their haplotypes and reading their Clan Donald ID codes, which you can then search for on the results tables using the Edit Find function of your browser. You can also find a particular person's haplotype on a chart by looking up his Clan Donald code on the results tables and inputting it in the search box on the page with the chart.

One thing that I think is especially helpful about this particular update is the fact that some of the men who were reclassified did not have a lot of close matches, but Doug McDonald was able to figure out their connections to some of the existing groups, and their placements in those groups and on the network charts should help clarify their relationships to other project members. At least one McDaniel was reclassified, and the one whose move I noticed is a good example of this.

He is listed on the charts as A.L. McDaniel Sr., and he has been placed in the R1b Green subgroup of the project for men in the Northwest Irish cluster that is associated with Niall of the Nine Hostages along with D. R. McDonald and D. W. McConnell, whose haplotypes (test results) are plotted close to his on the network charts. Another McDonald and another McConnell have 37 marker results, and they remain in the R1b unclassified subgroup, but their haplotypes are plotted close to the haplotypes for the others, and I think that they would both be reclassified if they had 67 marker results.

The R1b unclassified group still includes several McDaniel men, but most of them have some close matches. In some cases these men and their matches are clearly part of a family group, but the group is small and the men have not been placed in a new subgroup. In other cases, more results for these men or their matches would probably make it possible to recognize family groupings. Some of these men will be reclassified as the numbers of tested men in their family groups grow and as research into younger haplogroups (groups of men carrying an unusual mutation inherited from a common ancestor) makes it easier to develop an easily understood system of classification with many different subgroups.

My Gr Grandfather was William Henry McDaniel b 1850 in TN. M. 4/29/1869 Nancy Sanderson in Lincoln Cty, TN. I can't get any farther back because I don't know his parents or siblings names. They moved to TX, back to TN to fight in the war then then back to limestone county, TX. Children of WH & Nancy were William Alexander, Ida, Nora, Annie, Mary, George, Earl. Will A never married, Geo m. Nina Higgins and Earl m. Mary Graham (I think). Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that my dad Woodrow Wilson McDaniel B: 09 May 1917, Had a brother Orpha McDaniel and sister Dorthy... All believed to be born in Ky... My father W.W. McDaniel Married my mom Edith Mae Gierach on 07 April 1942 in New Port Ky... they lived in Fisty Ky for A while after WWII then moved to Ohio where I was born, and Rasied in Blanchester Ohio... Moved to Fayettville Ohio in the late 1970 or Early 1980's Dad passed away 17 Jan 1981 In Clinton County Memorial Hospital... My GF: George Washington McDaniel, Married Rosebell or Rosebelle Messer Dtd & Loc unknown... No one in the family talks about my Great Grand Father, the only thing that my mom can tell me is when my Grandfather was buried is his mom my ggm first name was Nancy and that my ggf was not buried with her for some unknown reason, and it was unsoken too with in the family... George My GGF was a sheriff of "Bloody Breathett County" and was involved in the last shootout a the county court house...

Any help is greatly appreciated... If I can confirm who my great GGF is I will be able to continue from there...

McDaniel (still trying to find out what the M. was for). My father was John Wilson McDaniel. I have family still living in Dwarf, Kentucky. Sandra Fugate is my cousin.
