James McDannel from Penn

Looking for information on James McDannel born in Pennsylvania between 1780-1790, married Salome (Sarah) Shook either in Pennsylvania or Ohio. I first locate him in Franklin, Stark, Ohio on the 1820 census. In 1840 Franklin township becomes Summit County, Ohio. Mar 26, 1841 James dies and within a couple of years the family relocates to Wells County, Indiana. I am trying to find out when and where in Pennsylvania James is born and to whom, as well as when and where he married Sarah.
As for children of this couple I have several for sure and some questionable children.
Mariah also known as Mary b 29 Dec 1819 Stark County Ohio
married Abraham Gill and moved to Wells County, Indiana
David b 11 Feb 1816 Stark County, Ohio later moved his family to De Kalb County, Indiana.
I also have children Sarah, Nancy and Leah all born in the 1830's and Leah born abt 1840 all in Wells County.
Questionable children: Adam b abt 1831 and Solomon b abt 1835 found living with David and his family on the 1850 census in DeKalb County, Indiana.
If you have any information on this family or any leads as to McDannel families in Pennsylvania in the late 1700's please contact me, as I have hit a brick wall.

Blount County, Tennessee, early 1800s

I'm looking for info on McDannel/McDaniel families in or near Blount County, Tennessee in the late 1700s or early 1800s. I have a Frederick McDonold (spelling on marriage record) who married Lockey Davis in Blount County in September 1817. Frederick's surname was later spelled with every variation you can think of, including McDannel, McDonnell, etc. His sons finally ended up using McDaniel. Most of his sons later lived and died in the central part of Arkansas in Faulkner, Van Buren, Cleburne counties. Frederick and Lockey were last enumerated on the 1850 Blount County, Tennessee census as Fredrick McDannel & Lacky McDanniel. (The children's surnames were all spelled McDannell.) This is the last time we find the parents. Can anyone help shed light on who my Frederick came from? Some related surnames (spouses of the children) are Steel, Sneed, Sherrill, Cupp, Hubbard & Oliver.

Thank you!
Juli

McDannel/McDaniel Dade Co. MO

I am looking for info on the McDannel/McDaniel on the 1880 census Marcus S. McDannel. It states he was born in TN in 1847. I have in my records his parents are Nestor/Nester McDaniel and Lucy Ann Mallory McDaniel. I believe they were born in TN, moved to KY, moved to Dade County, MO and Marcus moved to Texas and married Lucy Frances Barnett. His 1st wife was Mary Binford/Burford married 2/19/1871 in Dade County, MO.
I am really at a brick wall with Nester/Nestor. Could this have been an error on the spelling of the census or did McDannel change to McDaniel with different families?
Everytime I find something another question pops up, so I really admire all of you for hanging in there!! Any help with this branch would be appreciated. I have info on all of Marcus brothers and sisters if anyone is of this line.

Maxine, I received your reply in the message board. The "Dison" I referred is, I think, really Ethel Maxson. I prefer email to the message board. My email is rlsjhold@midwest.net. "Maxine" rang my bell, but couldn't quite get it together. I fondly remember Uncle Will Aunt Mary.--your cousin, Bob

McDannel relationship

Dear Maxine, I am a great grandson of Dison McDannel and Martha (Winn) McDannel. Irvin McDannel was a son of Dison Martha. Irvin Rhoda (Deaton) McDannel were my grandparents. My mother was Lorene. Dison Martha are buried in Bolton Cemetary near Stonefort, IL. They had at least 2 other sons besides Irvin,--Will and Frank. Frank is on the same plot at Bolton with Dison Martha. My grandpa and Will are in separate plots in the Marion, IL city cemetary. One, maybe two, of Frank's sons is also buried at Bolton (same plot as Dison and Martha) There is a lady buried there also. (She may possibly be a sister--I don't know). I can't remember her name.--maybe "Dixon" (last name). I am 69 years old and I remember Martha. However, I don't remember Dison. If my memory of the writing on the grave marker serves me right, he died on my birthday, 9/7/31.

I have a lot of information on McDanell's from Beaver County (southwestern) Pennsylvania. Their roots go back to pre-Revolutionary War times. Names such as William, Eli, Smith, John, Joseph, Rachel, Lydia, Abraham, etc. Some of the McDanell descendants headed west (Ohio, Iowa, Texas, etc.) in the early 1800s. Do you have any names you're specifically researching.

Kevin

My great great grandmother was Mary Catherine McDannel who was born in Deerfield, Warren County, Ohio on January 31, 1848. Mary Catherine's parents were Alexander McDannel (born 1818 in Pennsylvania) and Lovina Ritter McDannel (born 1818 in Ohio). Mary Catherine lived in Ohio for 19 years before marrying Emanuel Edwin Thompson on March 8, 1866. Years later they ended up near Grand Island, Nebraska with 5 children: Thomas Jefferson (Jeff), Adda Viola (Addie), Christena (Tena), John William (Willie), and Chester Jewett.
She married William H. England on December 6, 1893. She died August 16, 1899, days after pricking her finger on a chicken bone.
Mary Catherine, her son Willie, her parents, and many McDannel relatives are buried in the Phillips Cemetery near Grand Island.
Mary Catherine had siblings (possibly more than listed): Arthur born about 1840. Malissa, born about 1843. William Alexander born about 1845. Amelia, born about 1849.
