Of those McDiarmid's that came from the Loch Rannoch region, my father (Jim) tells me that we could have been from Pitlochry, Killin, near Loch Tay, or even Crieff. He's not too sure.
Some years after their mother died, the two boys and my grandfather took a trip over to Scotland, rented an MG-TC, and travelled the countryside in search of their heritage. But found little.
Jim suggested that the best thing for me to do now is take a month off and go to Scotland and check out the Scottish Church(es). But that sounds a little too much for my change purse.
I've been told that my (or our) family had fought in the Jacobite Wars. Were supporters and fought gaeliently (brave) to the bitter end . . .
