I have no info on this Archibald McEachern. My link to Scotland was a Neil McEachern, b. Inverness abt. 1808, lived in Edgefield District as a planter, and who married Elizabeth Ann Vardeman. They eventually moved to the Columbus area of Georgia.

I have been doing research on the McEachen family for about 6 years. The McEachen name has many spellings. It can be spelled with a Mac or Mc, it may be spelled Eachen, Eachin, Eachan or Eachern. From what I can tell the correct spelling is MacEachuinn which means son of Hector. I have tracet the MacEachen name back to the 12th century. I would be willing to share information with any one that may need help or may be able to help me. I mat be reached at rmceachen926@aol.com Robert Cowboy Bob McEachen

McEachern from Nova Scotia to Mass

Looking for any info on Donald (Daniel) McEachern b ca 1826 married to Elizabeth Murphy b ca 1838 both born in PEI, NS, Canada. They had the following children: Margaret, Martha, Peter, Sylvester (Archie), Angus (m. Sadie), Roland, Francis, John J, Joseph (m. Rose) and Donald.

Margaret married Thomas Diggins and they came to the US in 1879 and settled in Beverly, MA. She was the oldest as far as I can see. She was born in 1861 in Port Hawkesbury, NS, Canada. This is the line that leads to my husband.

I'm heading to Scotland in July and I'm hoping to get an idea of where they may have come from before I go. The 1871 Census shows that both Donald (Daniel) and Elizabeth are of Scotch descent.

I have no info on Margaret's parents or siblings or anything beyond Donald (Daniel). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can be emailed at missy3455@comcast.net
Thank you!
Missy

The James that Neil and Permelia was my great-great, -great gradfather James Hubbard. They did have a daughter that died at birth and she is buried with Permelia Jane at the Trice Cemetary with her husband the Civil war heroWilliam T Black. I have been to that cemetary a few years ago. I do have al types of family pictures that my Grandmother Opal Lulu Oxford McEachern left me. Most of my family is buried at the Holloway family cemetary at the Rock Chuch where James Hubbard McEachern was a preacher for many years. I have alot of the church meeting notes that mention my family in them.

Hello,

I am looking for information regarding my fathers adoption. He was born May 4, 1938 in Toronto. According to Ontario Adoption Disclosure Branch his adoption was arranged privately. He was born May 4, 1938 in Toronto, Ontario. His birth mother named him Pat Bruce. He was placed with his adoptive family May 12, 1938, they renamed him Bruce Murray. His B/m listed her occupation as an unmarried domestic. The B/M finalized the adoption July 10, 1959 in Bruce County Ontario. He thought her first name was Louise.
My father was told he was adopted within the family. There may be a connection with McKechnie, McEachern, Brown, Bruce, Wilkinson.
Let me know if you need ore information. Any Help would be appreciated.
MacEacherns

I found my great-great grandparents on Islay in Kidalton. Peter and Margaret (McInnish) McEachern (born in about 1794). Their children were Jane, Roderick, John, Archibald and Catherine. I am wondering if anyone has any more info on them. Margaret, John and Archibald came over to Canada to Egremont Twp. in 1854. And the year before Roderick went to Ottawa. I am wondering info on Peter's death as he did not come with them and there is no mention of what happens to the girls after the 1841 census. Also I can't find record of Margaret or Peter's birth (Iwould love to be able to trace my family back further). Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanx a bunch!!!

Due to the weather conditions and no transportation, many men walked the distance into Colorado to enter the gold mines. Dan walked over the mountain from Fairplay, Colorado into Leadville, Colorado and went to work in the mines and was a very successful leaser.

He married Jane Adamson and to this union two boys were born – Albert and Norman. Jane died soon after Norman was born and her sister Jemima took over to be a mother to the two boys. Daniel fell in love with her and they were married. To this marriage, three boys and three girls were born – Cecelia, Catherine, Ethel, Neil, Clarence, Dan Jr.

This is some information my mother had given us.

Hello again Ms Kathy: We are both on the same long, wispy trail. Please provide your source/documentation that Archibald McEachern, b. 1808, was from Islay and "was sent by boat to Lumberton, NC". The McEachern septs were situated in Ionia and Skye and other locations besides Islay.
I have two sources that allow that Archibald was born "at sea" in May 1808, and landed Wilmington (Cape Fear), N C, in June 1808. One source--Archibald's son Duncan, b. 1840, Robeson Co., NC, in his 1920 Census enumeration, Peaceburg, Calhoun Co., AL, stated that his father "was born on the Atlantic Ocean." Further, Emma Narciss McEachern, b. 1866, AL to Malcom McEachern (Archibald's eldest) and Louisa Teague, had daughter Izora Ellen Howle and who had son named William Waldrop and who had oral testimony from his mother that her GGF Archibald "was born at sea on May 8, 1808, and landed Jun 8, 1808, in Wilmington, NC." Hearsay at best, as there are no Landing Documents(manifests) that survived that era. In Archibald's Census declarations, he always indicated that he was born in NC. Also, Duncan McEachern, b. 1803--and who--it is surmised, from Permelia's letter reference to "Uncle Duncan"--was Archibalds older brother, that he too was born in NC. This Duncan, with wife Elizabeth McDaniel and children (all born Pike or Monroe Co., GA), were also found in Twp 16, Calhoun Co., AL, for the 1860 Census. This Duncan had gone to Texas before the next 1866 Census and which depaarture/destination was mentioned in Permelia's wartime letter.

Strange that no military record/reference can be found for Neill McEachern. Is there a chance that his widow Permelia Jane Black ever filed for widow's benefits? Or perhaps since she remarried, that was not an option?
Another tangent: Permelia Jane, in her wartime letter from AL, writes about her departed daughter "Fany(sp)" and her grave, Since Neill and Permelia were married in Upson Co., GA. on 2 Sep 1856, I am guessing that Fany died as an infant in 1857--likely in Georgia as she mentioned also in her letter from AL that she wished that she could see her daughter's grave once again.
One would wonder if Neill and his bride Permelia, in 1856, were living with Neill's parents in Pike Co., GA, or with Permelia's recently widowed mother Zilla Reynolds in Upson County, GA? One thing documented is that they (the McEacherns) were all living in Calhoun County, Twp 16, AL, for the birth of Neill and Permelia's son James on 13 Oct 1858, and for their subsequent enumeration in the 1860 Census.
