My mother has a court record of a Wesley Mcelfresh being the son of Nathan Mcelfresh. It also states that Wesley was born in Fayette,Pa. in 1805 His father Nathan Mcelfresh died in Adams County, Ohio. That is where the court records are from. My mother found them in Ft. Wayne, Indiana Allen County Library. dcblondie9@gmail.com

Hi Kathy, My mother has a record of a Wesley Mcelfresh in Adams County, Ohio that states that he was the son of Nathan Mcelfresh. It also states that he was born in Fayette,Pa. in 1805 which is pretty close to what we all have been looking for. It is a court record from when his father died. I can send you a copy if you would like one. Let me know. Sincerely, dcblondie9

James, My mother Mary Strickley and I found a birth record for a Nathan Mcelfresh which said he was born in the house of Westly Mcelfresh 1854 and also mentions Jacintha and also mentions the house is on Locust Creek. I thought the Locust Creek part could be of help to those of us looking for Westly Mcelfresh b.1808. The book is called Births and deaths of Bracken County,Ky. We found the book in the Kenton County Libary of Covington,Ky. It was a medical record which didn'get sent to Frankfort, Ky. (birth) I hope this will help us to get more information. dcblondie9@gmail.com

Hi Terry,

I have just started my search of my McElfresh surname. I have traced up to John McElfresh 1839 of Fountain, Indiana, who appears to be son to Absalom Bently McElfresh.

Did you find out additional information on Absolam? Thanks for sharing any details.
He was also my ggggggrandfather (or however many g's it is.) Southern Living is not a book, it is a magazine. Look at www.historiclondontown.org and you can see information about the reconstruction of his property. I don't think they have decided if it was a tenant house or if he lived there, but it is interesting how they have found the post holes for it and reconstructed what they think was there.

Seeking help with these two from Ohio County and Brooke County portions of what is now West Virginia. I have an Emily McElfresh born 5 Jan 1821 who later marries George Wymer abt 1839. I believe she was the daughter of the Jesse above with Elijah being Jesse's father and possible son of Richard McElfresh and Susannah Green. If you can shed some light on these two I would love to hear from you. Would gladly exchange Emily's info.
He lived in Illinois and was married maybe to Eliza. I know he was born between 1814 and 1821. He may have had a son Isaac, John and George Washington McElfresh, my g-g grandfather. It looks like to me his first wife Eliza died shortly after child birth and the children were farmed out and you see him with them every once and awhile. I believe he died in Smith County, Kansas. He moves around alot and I can not find him in all the census, such as 1850 and 1860. I do find him in 1855 census Shelby County, Illinois.

I have her death certificate which indicates that her parents were John W. Davis and Sarah Ann Young. Her name was actually Susannah, and she was born 7 Nov 1859 in Ohio and died 13 Oct 1947 in New Richmond, Clermont Co., Ohio.

Vicki

Hello Joan---I have info on who Anne C. McElfresh married
If you are interested, respond to my home e-mail and then I can send you my electronic files. My main search project is tracking the life of David Bell Scott -----son of David Scott and Margaret Chambers of Maryland. Margaret died when DBS was born, and David Sr. re-married to Anne in 1820. I have tracked David & Anne to Highland county Ohio for the 1850 census---but I cannot find their gravesites. I have the dates of death for both. Hope to hear from you for exchange of info----Ed Hodges---San Jose .
ehodges@ix.netcom.com

I am recently advised I am related to the pollitt's of Lewis County KY. through my G. Grandmother Martha Pollitt who married Thomas Wallace around 1865 . I would be delighted to find some connection to the Pollitt side or Wallace side of my family. I do know of three of the children of this union were Malcolm, Charles and David Wallace. I believe the other two deceased children were girls, five in all. I suspect David Pollitt and Susan were the parents of my Martha Pollitt. Please help. Clyde Mowery

Okay, just updating my post -- I found Elmer listed in the 1870 census in Augusta, Bracken Co., Kentucky, dated August 6, 1870 with Wesley and Cinthia McElfresh. I now have all 14 of Wesley and Jacintha's children if anyone is interested.

Now all I have to do is find Elmer in the 1900 census. :)

Vicki

Elmer or Elmore McElfresh, born 1862, Kentucky, married Susannah Davis

Just wondering if anyone researching John Wesley McElfresh and Jacintha Davis line has come across an Elmer or Elmore McElfresh. He was my great-great grandfather and married to Susannah "Anna" Davis. I have Susannah's death certificate and it indicates that Elmore McElfresh was her husband and that John W. Davis and Sarah Ann Young were her parents.

I found Elmer/Elmore McElfresh in the 1880 census with Anna in Berlin, Bracken Co., Kentucky. Living with them was Elijah Walker -- not sure of his relationship to them, but he is also in the 1860 census with a William Feagans in Bracken Co., Ky.

The only place I seem to be able to find Elmer/Elmore McElfresh is in the 1880 census. He apparently died before 1910 as Anna was in the 1910 census as a widow in Clermont Co., Ohio. So far I have not been able to find Elmore in the 1900 census, although I am still looking. I believe he may have been one of John Wesley and Jacintha's children. I found Jacintha, listed as Cintha, in the 1880 census for Berlin, Bracken Co., Ky. with Nathan, Rice, Josephine, Milton, and Charles. I also found her in the 1850 and 1860 census with John Wesley McElfresh, but since Elmore was born in 1862, of course he would not have been there. The 1870 census for Bracken Co., Ky. is so faded I can't read it, so I have no idea if he's there.

Vicki

Re: McElfresh relatives from Oklahoma & Virginia

I know this is an old message and may not be seen, but I found it while searching for information on the Charles R. Nelson family of Atoka, OK.
The reason I am responding is because on the 1910 census for Atoka county, there is a James Mcelfresh age 14, Jessie Q McElfresh age 11, and a Gertrude McElfresh age 8, listed as living with my Nelson family.
I don't know if these are the ones you are seeking or not, but thought names, ages, and Oklahoma location to be in the right ballpark.
I have not been able to find out any info as to why these McElfresh's were living with the Nelson family from any living family members as of yet but maybe this little bit of info will be of help to you.
