I have the dates of probate, Thomas J. McElhenie,3-24-1893,
Sarah Van Emmon McElhenie, 6-22-1897, Wayne Co. Oh.
The children listed on both wills were;James V. of Doylestown,Mary B.of Doylestown, Lillian Powers of Banfield , Mi.,and Thomas D. of Brooklyn, N.Y.
I believe that the "V" is for Van Emmon.

There are many McElhenies in the SE Virginia area. I know what I need to know about them, but I cannot find any information on how or when the McElhenies got here. There seems to be no mention on the web of the VA McElhenies. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all,

I've got a death certificate for a Nancy L. WILLETT and the informant on it is a Lenore MCELHENIE I believe but can't be sure. I found Nancy living with a T.J. McElhenie and his wife Adah as 'Mother-in-law'. They had a daughter Lenore, whom I believe is the same one on the certificate. I would really like to know if anyone has any information on this family, as I am connected to Nancy through her brother Henry WILHELM, which is her maiden name.

My great Grandfather was Arthur J. McElhenie who died in Pittsburg KS in 1902.

My grandfather, his first son, Arthur F. McElhenie lived in Pittsburg, KS and subsequently moved to K.C. Mo in the early 50's (I think). My Father, whom I have never seen, was John Stuart McElhenie and I think he went west after he and my mother divorced in about 1937 or '38. He like the Arizona area in addition to Salt Lake and Idaho. My string of the clan had lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and finally Kansas.

LaGrange, Ill, and Peru, Illinois were towns where some McElhenies lived until about 1958. Anna McElhenie.

My grandfather's brother was Chester McElhenie and also lived in Pittsburg,KS. Any other issue of John Stuart (or Stewart) McElhenie

Mindy, I immediately replied to you by email that I am a first cousin to Dennis, as my dad was Floyd V. McElhenie, and Floyd Ray was my grandfather, too.. I have lots of info about the McElhenie's in Wa, CA, and Ind. and MO. going back to Penn. in the 1700's. Please contact me , if you would like any of this info.

Thanks to the internet and wonderful helpers, I have found out the earliest history of the McElhenie's of Penn., Ohio and Indiana. After Arklow McElhenie( Born 4 Dec. 1858, son of John W McElhenie and Sarah Brouse) married to Mary Davis Jan 1, 1880 in Montgomery MI, the trail peters out.
Arklow had 2 sons, Merle, and Floyd Ray (my grandfather) Floyd Ray had 3 children, Muriel, Floyd Valentine (b 1907-1961) and Derrel b1922-95. Floyd V was my dad. and born in Springfield MO 2/14/1907. The years and whereabouts of the Floyd Ray McElhenie (M.1902 in Springfield MO to Myrtle Spain) between the MO. and the MOdesto CA (1942-on) are a mystery.
After my dad died in 61 we lost contact with Derrel and Muriel who still lived in Modesto. I know I have cousins, Karen, and 3 kids of Derrel's. I don't know where they are. Wendy McElhenie was looking for the same grandparents in 2000, but has an invalid email. I need to contact these relatives. Any help would be appreciated

I have been making random attempts every few years to research family history. The spelling is unique. My dad never knew his father, as he left when my dad was 2. A pretty amazing story lead me to meet my dad's 1/2 sister that he didn't know about...Never-the-less, this is what I do know... My grandfather's name was Floyd Valentine McElhenie and he was born in Missouri, died in Washington State. His parents lived in Northern California, but I don't know their names. anyone?

For email setup, it's dependent on the email program your using. If your using Outlook Express (or Outlook 2000) go to Tools and click on Accounts. Select the account you want to modify and click on Properties. Then run thorugh the tabs. The hotmail POP3 server is hotmail.com and your account name is the username you use. If your using hotmail's website, all the administration is done for you through their webpage interface. Let me know the address and I'll start sending you mail there. Also, my email address is smcelhenie@home.com, so feel free to contact me there and let me know any questions you have. I work with this stuff everyday, so helping is no skin off my nose.

I Sam! I'm your second cousin. My father was Allen Wendell, Roland's eldest brother. He passed away 18 yrs ago. Wendell knows me. Sorry I didn't remember you. You must be 25 "ish" maybe?? The Sam I thought you were was Sharon McElhenie's eldest. Sharon is one of Donald's kids. She is my cousin.
Allen Wendell, Thayme, Geraldine, Roland Kathrine and Donald are brothers sisters. Each have lots of kids as you well know. I will send complete list later. My husband, Dennis McElhenie, is the grandson of Myrtle Spain and Floyd McElhenie. His Father was Named Derrel Neal McElhenie.
There is also Wendel Dale, Floyd Valentine,Muriel and Richard.

I just found out from some relatives in OK, that my grandparents born in 1880's had 4 children not 3. They were Muriel, Floyd (my dad)Valentine, Wendell, and Derrel. All are deceased. Muriel in Modesto CA, as in Derrell. Wendell died in 1945 and had child Allen in 27 or 29. I know some of those VA McElhenie's have posted to this board, but have inactive emails. I want to get ahold of Wendy and Sam McElhenie. My own son has moved to Richmond VA, from Washington state and travels the state selling medical equipment. I will send him on a quest in case no one sees this. Please respond..( Also, my email will change, so use djdutton3@juno.com.

Derrell McElhenie's California relatives?

Recently Kevin McElhenie added a post em to my listing of Derrel stating he was his son. Kevin is my first cousin. I really would like to contact him or his siblings, as I lost track of that side of the family when my dad died in 61 when I was only 12.
I have since researched lots of McElhenie's and I have pages of history. I have contacted the other cousins who live in Virginia, and are the "children" of the other McElhenie brother, Wendell Dale
