Info on McElligott's of Ireland 1800's?

Surnames: McElligott, Linehan
I have a 1949 letter from my g grandfather John McElligott (b1869 Ireland) to my dad. In the letter he states that he is one of 12 children, 10 boys and 2 girls. At some point he emigrated to Southwark, London, England and married my g grandmother Annie Linehan in 1897. Their marriage certificate states that his father is William a labourer.

The 1901 Census of England is the source of Ireland as his place of birth. Someone told me that this area of London was called "Little Ireland". This probably bears out since his wife's mother and father came from county Cork, Ireland and there seem to be a lot of people of Irish origin in 1901 Census of the area.

Any info on this family with it's origin in 1800's Ireland would be appreciated.
