According to my mom, her grandfather John McEvoy was a seafarer between N. Am. and the British Isles; Liverpool in particular (there were relatives there.)
Believed to be born in Ireland, 1854; died 1924 in Buffalo, NY.
Married to Mary E. Buchanon b. 1861, Ireland, d. 1900, Buffalo, NY (Aux. No. 4, O.A.H).
One son b. Son, Corp Albert J. McEvoy 39th Trans Corps, 1889 - 1940 - Buffalo, NY. Other children (likely died in infancy - George, James, Sarah, Harold, Susan, and Margaret - all Buffalo, NY.)
Surviving children:
Mary (Mayme) b. 1885, Buffalo, NY m. Charles E. Cannan
John McEvoy b. 1887, Buffalo, NY m. Theresa ???
Albert McEvoy b. 1889
Charles Anthony McEvoy b. June 13, 1897, Buffalo, NY; m. Eleanor Schultz 1917; d. Mar. 7, 1956. after his mother's death, Charles was left with relatives in Liverpool for a few years before being brought back to Buffalo where he stayed at Our Lady of Victory Orphan Home in Lackawanna, New York, just outside of Buffalo, NY until his older sister Mayme and her husband Charles Cannan took him in.
Charles is my Grandfather. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
