As a beginner in researching a McFatridge family line I would like suggestions as to where I can find relevant source material. From internet sources I have developed a fairly lengthy pedigree but don't have any sources that prove this information.
Of particular interest is the line: Samuel B. McFatridge, his father, George Washington, Sr., his father, William Michael, and his father, Matthew McFatridge.
I am searching for McFatridges in Bassett . My grandfather was Elvin Elrod, his mother was Elizabeth McFatridge. All my grandparents and great grandparents are buried in Bassett.
My home burned down a few months ago and I had many very old pictures of my family on the walls. One picture was Elizabeth with her children and my grandpa as a baby on her lap. I lost the names of the others and history of my family. Does anyone have a family tree for the McFatridges of Bassett. I did not trace back, I don't know where they came from. She had a sister ,I remember as a child, Mrs. Smith was married to Commodor ,misspelled but I remember his unique name. Wonderful woman we always visited . Anyway my mom died in 1997 and I got the pictures and wrote on the back to remember everything she told me but sadly I lost it all and can not remember the all the names of the McFatridge family. Thanks for any help ,Donna

I wish I could help out with this one. I only know that from the census report that Virginia McFatridge was listed as the wife and there were three kids. A later census listed a second Virginia McFatridge as the mother of the first listed. There were two daughters and one son listed. If you could get a little more information, I might be able to confirm the link for you. The Sadler side of my family (father) wasn't very open and I have had to go on neighbors information to get what I did. My stepmothers family grew up next door to the Sadlers and was a great source of information. Her maiden name was Cox.

Please let me know if you have any more information, and I will try to confirm it if I can.

Regards,

Jerome M Sadler Jr

I have a Virginia McFatridge married to a Russell Brown, date unknown. I dont have DOB on Brown, but it appears to be late 1890's or early 1900's, which would logically put the marraige around 1925ish or so. I think it was KY, but am stumped. Any answers?
I am trying to locate my great grandmother's side of the family.

Virginia L McFatridge would have been born around 1900. As far as a birthplace, I do not have that information yet. She married Jerome T Sadler and had three children. Gertrude M, Mary A, and Martin Jerome.

From the 1920 Census in Maryland, I have found that her mother was staying with her (evidently right after the first birth (Gertrude M) and is listed in the records as being Virginia McFatridge as well.

This is what I have to go on, if anyone has information, please share. This research is going slow as my father was never forthcomming with information on the family. All I have found out was from simple knowledge from the family that lived next to the Sadler house.

Thank you,

Jerome Martin Sadler, Jr.

emily,
hi!!! nice to meet you! or maybe i've already met you at a reunion! if you know mickey, nancy kate and all of aunt lorena's girls, then you have probably met my daddy, james lehman, jr. i haven't been able to make the last two reunions, maybe we can both make next years!so, you grew up in montana, some experience, i bet! too much winter for me. i lived in colorado springs, co for 9 months while i earned my paralegal certificate. got to go up to laramie and cheyenne wyoming, but, never got to make it up to montana. beautiful country!!! but, much, too much winter for me!!! after i grad'd from denver paraleagal institute, we came home!! so, what part of montana do you live, or what part did you grow up in? and, what took the mcfatridges out there? there are also some mcfatridges in colo. sprngs, but i never got to meet them. i worked as a pharmacy technician at the biggest wal-mart pharmacy in colo. spngs. and there were 4 different mcfatridges and two mcfetridges intered into the computer. i figure the mcfetridge is somehow kin, as well. the spelling is too close, really, not to be. so, do you have anything on our family history? my husband, john clukey, and i, are working on both family histories right now. i have traced john's back to scotland and france. i know we go all the way back to scotland. i would just like to know all the fine details(and the dirt too!ha!) you know you run into a lot of skeleton's when you do this!!! let me here from you soon!
carol lee

Dear Carol Lee,
My e-mail is epatch5@aol.com or e5patch@aol.com. What is yours, so we can keep in touch.
I grew up in Easter Montana. 50 miles from
Canada and 50 miles from North Dakota. So it wasn't the pretty mountainous part, but the high, dry and treeless Great Plains.
I have lived in Portland, Or. for 21 years.
I am a high school history teacher. Still like the work and the young adults. Great to teach history during an election year.
Go Gore and Lieberman, I hope. I would be for Nader, but don't want to take a chance an more messes in the Supreme Court.
I was born in Montana because my mother, Ethel McFatridge came to Poplar to work in the Indian Hospital in 1932. My father was born in Poplar in 1901. His parents were pioneers to Montana. They were from Patch
Grove, Wi. My grandfather actually was an Indian Trader. He had a license to trade with the Indians and had mercantile store there. Later on he became involved in the first bank in that small town.
My brother still lives there.
He, my brother, is an attorney and is currently running for District Judge. His homepage is: www.patchforjudge.com
Go there is you want to look at your kin and read his speal.
You mentioned cold. That we hardly ever have here in Western Or. We have marine climate. Very temperate, but a tad moist. Seattle gets ten months of rain a year and we only get nine months of the wet stuff. We spend nine months on the "rinse cycle" and three months drying out. It is true!
Hi to everyone.
Carolyn Mickey sent me a picture of Charles David McFatridge and Nancy Hancock. Check with them or someone who has the book passed out at the reunion to see them. Charles David Mc and Nancy Hancock were my gr. grandparents. I imagine that they were your gr.gr.gr. grandparents. Probably we are about second cousins once removed.
E-mail me.
Love,
Your cousin,
Emily Patch in Portland, Or.
