JAMES H. MCGEHEE Dies in California
Ontario, California, Feb. 29: JAMES HYRAM MCGEHEE, 84, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. R. NICHOLS here. Mr. McGehee was born at Bastrop, Texas and at the close of the Civil War, settled in Salado, Bell County, Texas, where in 1871 he married Miss JOSEPHINE AIKEN, who survives him. He is also survived by the following children: WILLIAM MCGEHEE of Santa Ana, Mrs. L. R. NICHOLS of Ontario, Mrs. L. S. KENNEDY of Oilton, Texas, J. H. MCGEHEE Jr. of McCamey, Texas and Mrs. MYRTLE ROBINSON of Long Beach. Mr. McGehee left Bell County in 1889 and settled near Lockney, Floyd County, Texas in February 1890, before the organization of Floyd County, where he contributed largely to the development of the county. He came to California 14 years ago and located at Ontario, which has since been his home.
