I am looking for information about my gg grandparents, Mary Moan/Mohan DOB 1830 abt. and Thomas Baldwin DOB 1823; both born in Ireland. They lived in Brooklyn, NY and had 5 children; Mary (Baldwin) Cantwell 1858-1926, my g. grandmother, Sarah Baldwin DOB 1859, Catherine Baldwin DOB 1860,Joseph Baldwin DOB 1864, and Thomas Baldwin DOB 1866. Stacy, If you are who I think you are, I have alot of information for you. Is your father Robert Brazil McGeough born in Simpson, Sask, Can.?md to Shaorn Mollison from Govan, Sask? If so you grandfather would have been Bernard Benjamin McGeough and he married Monica Diamond. He as born in Govan, she in Young, Sask. If this is you,then I grew up with your mother and her brothers Ray and Rick in Govan.
I have access to a published book with tons of McGeoughhistory in it which you can get for a donation.

Anna Marie, you mentioned that you have alot info on McGeoughs from Monaghan. I would be interedted if you have anything from back there tying into my GGGandfather John McGeough who married a Jane Bremmen somewhere over In Monaghan or Armaugh in the 1840's and came over to NY around 1847-1851. I, too, am a McGeough. My ancestors came from County Monaghan and County Armagh. They originally migrated to Canada, and in 1870, they moved to Wisconsin to homestead. I have a lot of information on the "Wisconsin" McGeough/McGoughs.

They had eleven children and all emigrated to Govan, Saskatchewan in the early twentieth century. I have developed a family tree with a good deal of information that I can share with you. I went back to Monaghan in March 2004 to visit the family. Are you related to us? We have extensive family in Monaghan, Armagh and Donegal. Please drop a line, I am interested in finding the confirmation of the Peter McGeough branch. I also have a cousin (??)in Montana whose father was a Peter McGeough from County Tyrone. Whose grandchild are you? I'm Margaret, daughter of Mary Slobig, grandaughter of John and Margaret (McGeough) Slobig, great grandaughter of Hugh McGeough. Daughter "Catherine" spelled her name Kathryn, and was known to us as Aunt Kate, she lived in San Diego until her death in the 1970's. My grandmother died in 1956 or thereabouts, also in San Diego; my elder sister would know more. My mother spoke of her aunts frequently before her death last year. We visited Gilberts about 10 years ago and saw Greatgrandmother's farm.

McGeough in 'old' Drumshannon, Newbiss - County Monaghan

Hello...can anyone tell me the name(s) of the McGeough family who own the old home across the railway station on the opposite side of the road which nearly abuts the Presbyterian Church in Newbliss? That area was once known as Drumshannon and I am certain that my grandfather was born in that house.

My greatgrandmother was Bridget Moan(Mohan) from Co. Monaghan. She married my great grandfather John McGeough in Scotstown, Co. Monaghan around 1875.

Her father was a Patrick Moan (Mohan). When John and Bridget emigrated to America they left their oldest son Patrick McGeough with the "inlaws" the Moan family in Tydavnet, Co. Monaghan. I have heard that we are related to a Peter McGeough - but I do not know how. But, by and large McGeough is considered to be a Co. Monaghan name.

There was a Peter McGeough who sponsored the baptism of my husband's grandfather Peter Mohan in 1900 county Louth. Church in Killanny.

My grandmother was from Vesta,her name was Lucille McGeough her father might have been Joseph. He died around 1916 in Oregon and Lucy moved with her mother and family to Santa Barbara, Ca. Do you know where the McGeoughs were from in Ireland?

The National Archives in Dublin will show the family is from the District of Bally Bay. Also the Records office next to the hospital in the county town of Monaghan will reflect the District of Bally Bay. Kevin

The Wards are still living in the surrounding townlands of the District of Bally Bay this day. I visit regularly with the family and also meet new relations every visit. The families are doing well. Most of the past relations are buried at the Catholic and Protestant Church cemetaries in the surrounding townlands. The list of surnames associated with the Wards through marriages is extensive and related. Any search in the District of Bally Bay associated with the Wards will bring you an extensive extended family that now resides there. Kevin

I'm not Canadian, however, my great-grandfather Robert McGeogh was born in Canada ( I have no idea where) but settled in North Dakota, I believe abt.the 1880s' He had a daughter named Margaret born about that time also. do you suppose there's a connection?

Have you come across any McGeough members named Johnny that MAY have emigrated to Canada with the Bernardo Orphanges ? My great uncle Alex Hindman adopted a young man named McGeough, first name John who died on June 24th 1883 at the age of 15. He came ot Canada and lived at the Marchmont Home in Lindsay Ontario and I have been unable to find out anything more about him.

1st wife unk known children were Mary, Eliza, James
and John b near Castleblayney

2nd wife was JANE DIXON b abt 1816
In the baptism records of the Frankford Presbyterian
Church, John and Jane were listed as living in
Tullycolliff (Tullycollive)and the following children
were recorded:
Margaretta, the 2nd child baptised 1843
Robert, the 4th child b 1847-48
Samuel, the 5th child b 1850
I believe their 1st child was William b abt 1840

Any further help or info would be greatly appreciated!!

I dont know of a lawrence McGeough,but I did have family of Hugh McGeough that lived in Keady,but I know they went to the Uk in 1960 Hugh was the chief fire man at Keady.His father was John(wether John had a brother/cousin called Lawrence) the church records in Armagh /Belfast should have baptism certificates Here are the contact #

Seeking information regarding McGeough/McGough or McDonald in County Cavan. My g-g-grandfather is Patrick McGeough (some records spell it McGough) born appx 1820. Married Mary McDonald and had 3 sons: John in 1842, Bernard in 1844 & James in 1853 (birth dates appx). They emigrated to U.S. in either 1854 or 1859. Prior to the move, our information indicates they were located in Cootehill, County Cavan. Any information would be helpful.

I believe that I may be related - my grandfather's name was Bernard - he came to Sask. (Perry, south of Regina) from Rice County, MN. My father is not alive, but my mother knows that there were some relatives (I think my dad's cousins) that farmed at Govan. I'm just starting to research my family tree so it would be good to keep in touch. I grew up in Sask. but have since moved to Vancouver. I think your side of the family has relatives in this area.

We think this line is Irish coming over due to the potatoe famine. The last name Sparlin may come in here too.
Mattie Gulltt married William Fox about 1879. They had 13 children.
