McGillicuddy ancestors

I am searching for ancestors of the McGillicuddy family of DC and Maine. The family history on my side is that we were related to Connie Mack (Cornelius McGillicuddy) and went to lots of baseball games. If I am remembering correctly, Connie Mack was an uncle of my great aunt (Frances Lorine McGillicuddy) who is now 83.
The McGillicuddy family was my maternal grandmother's side. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth McGillicuddy (married to Jessie Edward White), born in DC in the late 1800s. She had several brothers and sisters including John Joseph McG, Daniel Jerome Aloysius McG, Edna Anastasia McG and my great aunt, Frances McG. They lived in DC area, in Chevy Chase I think. I also know that they were related somehow to the Daniel John McG who was a US representative from Lewiston Maine in 1911-1917. Perhaps that is how they got to DC?
I am just beginning to look for family tree information- most of my older relatives are dead and I have only scraps of information to go on- hearsay and vague memories from when I was a kid. I guess middle age is spurring me into this search!
Melinda Pittman (age 47)
daughter of Mary Elizabeth White (married Pittman)
grand daughter of Mary Elizabeth McGillicuddy (married White)
great grand daughter of Jerome Aloysius McGillicuddy (married to Emma Mae Dietz), Jerome Aloysius was brother of Daniel John McGillicuddy, US Democratic congressman from Lewiston Maine, and Cornelius McG, the Connie Mack of baseball.
