hello-I am writing for Irva's grandson, Robert E. McGinty-he said that she moved from Chicago to Duluth, MN on or before 1920. She lived there for about 50 years, then moved to CA to be with relatives. She developed serious back problems and her son had her move back to MN for better medical care where she lived until she passed away-sometime in the late 60's he thinks. Curious-why do you ask? Thank you!

I have a clarification-from Edward's grandson. He was not an artist. Irva was his wife and she was the artist. She owned and operated the studio in Chicago on Hallstead St. is his recollection. Just happened to be talking about this with him and we decided to look online to see what was out there. Edward's gramdson is Robert E. McGinty. Hope this helps anyone looking for the detail. And yes, she handpainted porcelain. Also did some canvas painting.

McGinty- Williams search

I'm still searching for a break- through in my genealogical search. My GreatGrandmother was Mary McGinty.. married to John Williams.. rumored to have had several children prior to the birth of my Grandfather James Alexander Williams Dec3 1873 in Mine La Motte, MO...Both parents died within 9 days of birth of James Alexander Williams. No records were ever passed on to my grandfather and only brief references to his other siblings were mentioned. This is a brick wall of long standing. I've done searches since the 60s. and have never found anything. If you have any information that would match these bits of ancestral clues please contact me by e mailing me at LennWil@aol.com

Sir, my apologies for such a late response to your kind posting relative to my inquiry about the lineage of Robert Paul McGinty, my father. I know my father was born in Marshalltown, Marshall Co., Iowa in 1919, the only child of Harry Louis McGinty and Alvarhetta Orilla Wilson. Harry's lineage is a bit foggy; however, I do know that Harry Louis "McGinty" had a mother named, Nettie Thorpe of Iowa (sometimes living in Minnesota) and she may or may not have been married to a "Frank" McGinty. I have not found any marital records for Frank and Nettie. My research has shown that Nettie Thorpe was employed as a domestic in a household that had a twenty plus year old son named, "Frank." Following the birth of Harry Louis McGinty, I do know Nettie later married a man named "Beuhler," supposedly a jeweler in Minnesota. I believe there was some Thorpe and McGinty connection with Minnesota as well as official records in Iowa. I do have photographs to share of Harry Louis McGinty. There have always been stories of the McGinty lineage coming from County Cork, Ireland; dates, villages and names, unknown to me. If you are still interested in considering any connection to my McGinty line, I would welcome your response. Again, my apologies for such a late response to your posting. Sincerely, eloise kathleen mcginty howard

Although it has been a long time since I checked this message board, it does not represent a lack of continued interest in locating my paternal McGinty line. My father was Robert Paul McGinty, born in Iowa in early 1900's. His father was Harry Louis McGinty, son of Nettie Thorpe and possibly one Frank McGinty. I believe there was some connection with Minnesota but I am not certain of this. I do know that Nettie was possibly a domestic employee of a family with a twenty + year old son named "Frank." I have found no marital records for Nettie Thorpe and "Frank McGinty." Nettie Thorpe McGinty (?) gave birth to a son named, Harry Louis McGinty, who married Alvarhetta Orilla Wilson of Iowa and their only issue was my father, Robert Paul McGinty, born in Marshalltown, Iowa, 1919 but now deceased. I have photos of many of Alvarhetta Orilla Wilson McGinty, her husband, Harry Louis McGinty and their only child, a son named Robert Paul McGinty. Family stories have it that the original McGinty was from County Cork, Ireland. Anything you might be able to share would be so appreciated. Thank you, eloise kathleen mcginty howard

John J MCGINTY moved to Bay City Michigan late 1890's.
He married Margaret (Maggie) BURNS from Mt. Morris June 3, 1901. Margaret's parents were Thomas BURNS and Margaret TUHL. John was a milk dealer and apparently a City Alderman later in life in Bay City. They raised a family of at least 3 children (Mary L b abt 1902, Margaret b abt 1906 and John J. Jr. b abt 1908)and are listed on at least two census in the 1900's. I would like to find out more about their life in Bay City and possibly speak to any decendants. John is my GG Uncle. I would be pleased to provide details of John's life in the 1800's.

Richard
Toronto

Hi. My great-grandfather was Patrick McGinty, who settled in Bear Creek (Waupaca County), Wisconsin. I don't know too much about him, except that he was born in 1843 in Ireland, emigrated to Quebec, and was in Wisconsin by around 1860-1870. Is that the Patrick McGinty that you were talking about? Thanks. Nancy Plant

Everything I've found says he was born in 1862 in N.Y. He lived in Livonia in 1870 and it says he is 8 then. His brother Bernard was born about 1855 and that also says he was born in NY.

I haven't been able to find the family in 1860, so I'm not sure where in NY he may have been born. Although I have found a meassge on the Ancestry message board that says he was born in Livonia, NY.

I do know that his grave is in St. Michaels Cemetary in Livonia, NY. and the gravestone says 1862 - 1927.

His wife Tessa Parkins says 1871-1947.

I hope that helps. How are you related to Peter?
