If you have information abou a McGlade marrying a Kelley, I'd be delighted to share notes. Thank you.

Hi
I don't know if this will help anyone.
My grandfather was Dan Patrick McGlade who came from Ireland, or Isle of Mann. This would be the early 1900s. He married Minnie Pratt. They had five children. Mary, Daniel, Frank, James William (my dad), and Agnes.
They settled in Wichita Kansas and he was a bricklayer. Dan Patrick left his family during the depression and died sometime in the late 80s. It is unknown what happened to Minnie Pratt McGlade.
James William McGlade b. 1927 carried on the bricklaying tradition and then started his own masonry business in St. Joseph Missouri. He passed away January of 97.
I would love to find some thread of information further back than Dan Patrick McGlade immigrating to New York.

My ancesor is Anna McGuckin, who came to America from County Antrim with her husband, William Murdoch, and family, in 1847. I would like to find who her parents were. They were farmers, and Anna was born ca. 1800. They were married near Belfast, and their children were: Isabel, Joabella?, Jennie, Anne Jane, William H., James M., Matilda, John, George, and an unknown girl who was buried at sea during their journey. All the children were born about seven miles from Belfast, probably on the family farm.
Do you have any information you can share?

The McGlade Family name is both Scotch and Irish. My father was born in Scottland, however, I've just been told that there is a possibility that McGlade might have been changed. It might have originaly been McCloud. I am going to search that out. I do have some sites that a friend sent to me and I will pass them on to you; http://www.nedsite.ni/search/people.htm and http://www.peoplesite.com/indexnf.html...hope this might be of some use. If I can help you in anyway with this, just ask! Good luck! Donna McGlade/DiNicola

McGlades in Paisley

Hello,

I searched my 1998 UK electoral role CD, and found that there's about 120 McGlades in Scotland, though there are very many more in England. 10 of the Scottish ones are listed as living in Paisley, at 5 addresses.

I presume that 'Paisle' was a typo for 'Paisley'. Paisley is a well known district near Glasgow. I cannot find anywhere just called Paisle.

I'll be in touch by mail (which you'll probably have seen first!)

regards

Andrew
