DON'T look for McGlashing. Look for the more usual spellings - McGlashen or McGlashan. Many surnames have changed their spellings as there was originally no correct version, and clerks wrote the name as it sounded.
Happy hunting!
Gordon.

Good Morning Heather: I believe we have found Lloyd and it was in BC.

Lloyd McGloshing - it was spelled with an "o" instead of an "a". Vancouver,BC - death 1-29-1959 at the age of 73 which would make it correct with his birth year.

Now part 2 of the search begins, I will try and obtain his obit and see if he was married with children and also try and get his death cert.

Just wanted to update you as you've been such a great help to me all along - Thank You.

Have a great day!!!

Sandi

That was funny to see - it's me Heather!! Thanks for the William info. A few years back we found his family in Texas but did not have some of the info you sent along. They were kind enough to send a photo of William - his wife (2nd wife) and the extended family.

Now if we could only find that damn Lloyd that would be all my grandfathers siblings accounted for. Maybe it's going to take another 8 years or maybe I'll never find his final resting place???

How did you know there was a family connection as there was many McGlashing's through out the USA??

Now if we could only find Lloyd - he is the only one of my grandfather's siblings that we can not find "death" info on - have been searching for 8 years with no luck.

Thanks again for all your help I appreciate it.

Have a great day!!

Hi There!
I am researching the SNOW and FELTMATE families of Nova Scotia ( as well as other related families ). I have a LENORE MCGLASHING ( B. Feb. 4, 1905 in Upper Cape, Westmorland, New Brunswick) married to WILLIAM ALDON SNOW, b. May 8, 1890 and d. Nov. 22, 1957 in Tatamagouche, N.S. He is buried in MacNutt's Cemetery, N.S. WILLIAM ALDON SNOW and LENORE MCGLASHING married May 26, 1924.

I figure Lenore is probably a relative of yours because McGlashing is not a common surname.

I have a list of their children if you are indeed interested. Let me know, and I'll send them to you!

Shirley DeWolfe

Good Morning Patricia: Thanks so much for answering my post I very much appreciate the information. What a sad thing for the family losing a little one at only 2 days old - how awful. Well I'll keep going on my mission - somewhere a while ago I thought there was a Lloyd or Richard McGlashing out there in Calif. - I'll go through my very "disorganized" papers and see what I can find. Once again thanks so much. Take Care Sandi

In later years in the 1920's lived in Allston-Brighton area, also Malden for many years and then in Wilmington before passing away in the late 1970's. I believe he had a relative maybe an Uncle John from Everett that either had a car dealership or a car mechanic. Will look forward to hearing from family. Thanks Sandi
