Hi Gary Yes, Jane McIntire Carpenter and I did see and I made copies of those letters. I would love copies of what you have. However, I need to put your email in my address book so the email will come through. I have my settings set that I only receive emails from people that are in my address book.

You know you may have something there about them being in Ohio when they married. Maybe that is why we are unable to find any information on their parents, siblings, etc. Too bad my Mother isn't still alive, she was the family historian. but she never wrote anything down but she had many stories about her families. However, she would be 106 if she were alive!!
However, since you remember "Duncan McIntire/Mcintyre being in Webb's book. Have you tried working forward with him and his ancestors? I think you may have mentioned this in a previous post and I did start to look him up. But life got in the way and I never picked up the file again.

I will call you.
Hi Marie,

I'm assuming your referencing Jane McIntyre Carpenter. If so, Elliot McIntire, our cousin (Harvey Darbyshire McIntire) posted copies of two letters Jane wrote. I have about twenty pages or so of assorted material, including an attempt in the early thirties to do some research. If you'd like I will scan and send what I have to you.

Webb lived in Culver City, two house down from the movie studio. He took me there one day and I watched them film scenes for the Audie Murphy movie "To Hell and Back". The book I believe is long gone. He had no children of his own and his wife Della had one married son.

I live in Memphis, Tennessee. I was raised in El Paso, Texas and lived there for almost 28 years until my job took me elsewhere. My full name is Gary McIntyre and I may be reached at:

utep66@aol.com
telephone 901 755-5822
1163 Hunters Green Cir S
Cordova, TN 38018

Strictly a personal opinion, I believe Elliot and I and perhaps others are looking in the wrong direction. Elliot as did I read in Aunt Jane's letter that her grandfather was born in Scotland and Elizabeth McBride (his cousin) was born just over the line (Ireland). Where it becomes a little tricky is I've found one marriage record for Alexander McIntire and Elizabeth McBride. It shows they were married in Ohio and she was from Ohio. Alexander McIntire lived in Pennsylvania and across the line might be Ohio. In any event, I have spend perhaps 150 hours over the years and have gotten nowhere.

I am glad to have someone else to share information with and I will relate in another email a couple of the stories Webb told me when I was young. We visited Webb two or three times when we lived in Texas and when my father got out of the service we lived with Webb and Della for two or three months. I was likely the closest youngster to him. He loved to tell me stories and enjoyed my interest in the family and history.

Take care,

Gary McIntyre
(yes, we are cousins)

Hi Gary. Yes, I guess we are cousins of some kind. My great great grandmother was Jane McIntire, daughter of Andrew McIntire, son of Alexander McIntire and Elizabeth McBride. You have a lot more information that I have. Unfortunately, my Mother didn't leave us with very much documentation on the McIntire family. Her grandmother was Jane McIntire. I do think I have photographs.

Too bad that book can't be found. Do you remember where Webb McIntire lived when you visited him and saw that book. It would be quite wonderful if the book could be found. Do you recall any of the stories he told you?

Goodness I can't remember what I heard from yesterday! You have a great memory. What state do you live in? I live in Texas. If you would like to contact me directly my email address is marietrnr@aol.com or phone (cell) 214-507-1592. I have found a lot of stuff on a "Alexander McIntires" but have no clue if he is our McIntire. There is still a cousin living in Frankfort, Clinton Co. Indiana and she works at the local library and does genealogy research but she has had no luck with the McIntire line. Her grandfather was Richard McIntire a brother of Andrew McIntire. However I am interested in anything anybody else might have on the family. I do have a letter from my uncle, written to my dad back in 1968, which I guess is trying to straighten out the affairs of Aunt Chris? going to a nursing home in Detroit and taking care of Aunt Ada's personal effects. Would really like to know who Ada was married to

Hi Marie, my name is Gary McIntyre (McIntire) and I am a gggggrand son of Alexander McIntire and Elizabeth McBride. Andrew, Alexander, Harvey Derbyshire McIntire, Fonce McIntire and Aronld McIntire are my respective grandparents and father. Both, Elliot McIntire and I, have been trying for years to find the parents of Alexander and Elizabeth, but to no avail.

Do you know who the parents of Elizabeth McBride are?

What little I do know about Alexander is as follows:

- There is marriage record from Ohio for Alexander McIntire and Elizabeth McBride. It does not have a date or city.
- My cousin and I based, based on research done by a professional in the thirties or forties, believe the birth date of Alexander is 1770 and Elizabeth 1767-69.
- Alexander McIntire is on the 1800 census record and is shown as a resident of Lancaster. No other family names are shown.
- I have been unable to locate a passenger ship record to confirm when he arrived in this country.
- Based on a copy of letter from Jane McIntire Carpenter she indicates her Grandfather Alexander and Elizabeth were first cousins. In her letter she also states she was from Ireland and he was from just across the line. I assume she is referencing Scotland and Northern, Ireland.
- I have spent hundreds of hours over the years with no luck on finding Alexander.
- For what it is worth I will relate a story from my childhood regarding Webb McIntire (son of Harvey Derbyshire McIntire. We were visiting Webb and he pulled out a book which he had compiled detailing the complete family genealogy through 1954. At the time I was the last entry. He told us stories by many of our ancestors and I clearly remember the first entry was Duncan McIntire. Duncan was an Irish poet who couldn't read or write. He simply sang his poems. My father and I often talked about him over the years. Now in regards to the book I don't know if anyone knows where it is. I know of two cousins, Elliot and Ken McIntire, however, either has heard of the book. I doubt it is still in existence.

Marie, I'm sorry for rambling. If you have any information you'd care to share on either I would appreciate it.

Since we share the same gggggparents I assume we are cousins several times removed.

Good luck,
Gary

John birth unknown but died ABT 1803 and Mary birth and death unknown. They had the following children...Hugh, Catherine, Isabella, Christian, Malcom, Margaret, and Mary. Is this your family? If so can you verify any parents , marriages and children for me.

Thanks...Lisa Ann Smith (McIntyre)

In the 1850 census are the following family members:

Thomas McIntire, 65
Elsy McIntire, 64
Joseph McIntire, 22
Nancy McIntire, 20
Hannah McIntire, 13

The next family on the 1850 census is that of John E McIntire (age 24?) and his wife Susanna McIntire (age 20?), who may be another son.

Could this Thomas McIntire family be the Thomas McIntire family who are in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses of Cumberland County, PA, but who "disappear" from there after the 1830 census? Does anybody know the ancestry of this Thomas McIntire family; i.e., who are his parents?

Jim
jmfreed@midohio.net

Benjamin McIntire, Perry County, Pennsylvania, 1850 census

Benjamin McIntire is shown in the town of Bloomfield, in Perry County, PA, in the 1850 and 1860 censuses. In the 1850 census, the following McIntire family members (with ages, are found:

Benjamin McIntire, 52
Ann H. McIntire, 40
Charles J. S. McIntire, 20
Mary M. McIntire, 16
Ann E. McIntire, 14
Elizabeth McIntire, 12
Alda J. McIntire, 10
Clara E. McIntire, 8

Can anyone share who might be Benjamin's parents? (My hpothesis is that his parents were John McIntire and his wife Margaret McCabe McIntire of adjacent Cumberland County, PA.) Also are there any living descendants of this family with whom we can communicate?

Jim
jmfreed@midohio.net
John McIntire (ca 1745-1830) and his wife, Margaret (ca 1756-1830), are found in five censuses in Cumberland County, PA, from 1790 through 1830. From these census records they appear to have had at least ten children, seven sons and three daughters. Based on these same census records and census records of other counties, it appears that among the seven sons may have been the following six (in no specific order, "Cumb" = Cumberland County, PA; year is the census year):

Robert McIntire (Cumb, 1810; Union Co., PA, in 1850, 59 years of age)
Samuel McIntire (Cumb, 1810)
Benjamin McIntire (Perry County, 1850, attorney, 62 years of age)
Thomas McIntire (Cumb, 1810, 1820, 1830; may be the Thomas in Armstrong County, PA, in 1840 & 1850, age 55 in 1850)
James McIntire (Cumb, 1820, 1830)
Charles McIntire (Cumb, 1830)

Does any reader of this list have any information on the above McIntire families?
Seeking information and contacts about the family and descendants of John and Margaret (McCabe) McIntire (McIntyre). They were married at the Centre Presbyterian Church, August 11, 1778, Cumberland (now Perry) County, Pennsylvania. They are buried in the Big Spring Presbyterian Graveyard, Newville Borough, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Margaret McCabe had siblings James, John, William, and Robert, children of Owen and Catherine (Sears) McCabe. John siblings were probably Thomas, Jennett, and James, children of Andrew and Martha McIntire.

In the U.S. Federal census records of Cumberland County, they are listed with a number of children, but we have not been able to identify any of them, except Mary McIntire, possible daughter or granddaughter (b. ca 1808), and is buried beside them. Does John McIntire have a will in Cumberland County? Do they have any living descendants?

Looking for someone with book Descendants of Micum McIntire, revised edition, by Robert Harry McIntire. I need the "other" McIntire's that aren't his descendants, probably from index. I would be happy to pay for copies and postage. If there are too many pages, I am specifically looking for pages 553 and 554.

Thanks...

Jane

McIntire/McIntire graves Marion County wv

I am trying trying to identify two graves at the Hawker Cunningham Cemetery, Marion County, WV. This cemetery is located on the Margaret Road with in the property where Consol Energy has just built new operations. The graves are old feild stones. They are flat and next to each other. Very near them is a large stone of Silas McIntire and an old stone of his son Virgil. The stones are almost unreadable. And they appear to be of twins. They say W J McIntire/McIntyre 1884-1908 and the other M V McIntire/McIntyre 1884-1911. The reading may be wrong as the stones are really in bad shape and were hand made. Any one with information on these two graves can email me at FFBS97@AOL.COM Thanks in advance Vanessa

Hi Rachel,

Could you tell me something about the McIntire men you referred to. When did these marraiges take place? Do you know where they are originally from?

I have a little more information on McIntire's from Donegal and they were left as dead ends so would be nice to see if any fit.

Thanks
Alana

Kate, can you give me more info abt your Cornelius McIntire. I found one in Ohio Co VA/Wv making tax payments early. . .before 1800. I wonder if he is related to my Robert McIntire from Brooke Co VA/WV and his brother John who I believe also ended up in Ohio. Any info you could give would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks, Janet Risinger Currie

Re: Jefferson Co OH McIntire marriages

I don't think I am a match with that couple. . . at least not that I have found at this time. My John McIntire and sons came through Fayette County but settled on Buffalo Creek in what was then Ohio Co VA by 1784. His grandson Robert McIntire Jr had land in Jefferson County which explains my listing for McIntire marriages that I have found. Wish I could give you more information. Good luck with your search.

Janet Currie
