I'm looking for information on Mary J McIntyre born 1858 in New York and shortly thereafter moved to Boston, Mass. Her parents were John McIntyre (Ire) and Mary Conley (Scot). I have located her on every census from 1870 to 1920 as unmarried (lives with her sister in the 1920 census). I can't find her on the 1930 census. Does anyone have any information on Mary J McIntyre?

I am not sure if Elizabeth moved with her family or came to Canada earlier.

I am connected to the McIntyre family from Kilchoman Islay (see below). The family all came to Oro Township in Simcoe county after 1855. They are buried in Oro at Knox Presbyterian Church. The later generation at St. James/ Andrews Cemetery in Orillia
Duncan my great grandfather married Isabella Turner @1870. They lived in Oro Twp.
Archibald McIntyre - Bonhill - 1916

Hoping someone can help me track down an Archibald MCINTYRE, Apprentice Engineer of 139 Main St, Bonhill. On 5 May 1916 the Sheriff awarded a decree of paternity for McIntyre's illegimate child with Mary Ellen BRAWLEY. This child (William Ferguson BRAWLEY) was born on 16 July 1915.

Mary BRAWLEY later married someone else, so it's possible that MCINTYRE was too young to marry or that he went away to fight in WW1 and never came back.

The 1901 census provides a couple of potential Archibald McIntyres in the Bonhill area; there's no shortage of Archibald McIntyres who went away to World War 1 and didn't come back. I just can't seem to match any of them up, so I'm hoping that someone has this Archibald MCINTYRE somewhere in their research and can help me pin him down.

Cheers,

Helen

I posted what I had transcribed from a microfilm of the registers of the Parish of Morvern. There are few enough Macintyres there that it is reasonable to surmise that they all are related, but I have not managed to figure out all I wanted from the records. Part of the reason had to do with a problem of church politics/religious tenets that led to people withdrawing for a time, or simply not paying the fees for baptisms (or records?, I forget), especially for girls. Anyway, that may be behind the reasons both you and I haven't found all the records we want.
When I get time, I'd check for records of any other church there. But you might want to get the film of the parish register I from your local LDS Family History Centre and see if it's there.
Did you find Archibald and Christina on the 1841 census in Knock, Morvern? My Donald and Catherine (nee McIntyre) were in Lochaline, very near Knock at the time, and they lived in Knock in 1861. I wonder if we can find a connection.

The McIntyre Family Bible has been seen by a Stephanie Woods who lives in Michigan. She posted on Ancestry that she had seen the bible. Several of us McIntyres are trying to contact either Stephanie or her husband Patrick to find out where this bible was seen.
Oliver, he is my 4x gr grandfather who married (1) Mary Oliver, (2) Mary/Polly Miller Hitchcock. Oliver and (1) Mary had 3 children - Oliver who died and is buried in MA, Christian who is my 3x gr grandmother and John who went to Canada and married there.
Carol Argus and I have been to Worcester, MA, have travelled the trail that John & Anna made to Chester and have seen his home which is still standing and being lived in. We have extensive research from this trip.
We need to find this bible, so if you know of the party above, contact them, and pass the word along to any McIntyres that are related to this family.
John and Anna had 12 children. Christian and John belong to Oliver and (1)Mary. When Mary died Oliver gave his children to his parents who took them to Lewis Co. with them.
contact- tmarshall1@cfl.rr.com

Westomreland, PA family of Laura McIntyre

Looking for information on Westmoreland, County, PA McIntyres. My g.grandmother’s name was Laura McIntyre, born in 1853 in Westmoreland, Cnty, PA. I found 1860 and 1870 census information listing a Laura of her aprox age with parents as John (b1830) and Sarah (b1832) and siblings: George, John, Emma, and Alice. (Census spelling of the family name changes, so I am not sure of the actual spelling.) Does anyone have information on this family?

Dear Kent, Darius and all posters in between:

Greetings from Decatur (Atlanta), Georgia. My ggg-grandfather was Duncan McIntyre. In fact, I visited his grave in Conecuh County, Alabama this past November. My lineage is traced through Duncan to John Thomas McIntyre to James Madison McIntyre to Lois McIntyre Smith to Billie Smith Lemley, my mother. It would be such a thrill to connect with other Duncan McIntyre Family researchers. Please feel free to contact me via my Ancestry account. Take care.

All my best,

John

John Smith Lemley

James nice to meet you. We live in Roman Forest. I thought there was family in Port Authur, but did not know about Orange. Thomas and Dora also had three girls. The oldest was Rachel she was born 07/05/1879 and died 05/10/1936. Next was Jennie she was born in 1883 and died in 08/15/1965. She married a Whitfied. Then there was Callie, she was born 12/25/1889 and died in March of 1989. As far as I know she was not married. I have been working on and off on your families genealogy for years. It has been very difficult finding info. on Thomas Franklin McIntyre. The records here in the states were not that great back then or in other countries for that matter. I can tell you that the "McIntyre's" left from Northern Ireland to the states, and prior to that they mirgrated from Scotland. You also have relatives in Australia. The "McIntyre's" have a interesting history, and I will be more than happy to share what I know.

What I have found so far is this...I am not sure where the T.C. came from but his name is Thomas Franklin McIntyre married to Dora King in Walker Co. Nov. 7, 1874. This is my husbands great grand-parents. Thomas died in Nov. 1894. He came from Ireland, however I can not find any records of him on any of the ships records. When he and Dora were married the last name was spelt diffrent. As far as I know they have no ties to the other McIntyre's in Grimes Co. Or at least I have not found one yet. If I can help you with anything else just let me know.

My great grandfather John McIntyre immigrated from Ireland in 1912 from Ballylar, Ireland he was a farmer. I believe that he has at least three siblings Mary (1891), Daniel (1875), and Eddie (1878). All the siblings where living in the Donelgal, Ireland area before they immigrated. All seem to have settled in the Philly or Newark area. Any info on them or other possible relatives would be great.

Hi,
I'm trying to trace my 3xgreatgrandmother Agnes Findlay eho, according to the 1861 census, was born in Morvern about 1820. According to her death certificate her parents were Archibald McIntyre and Christina McMillan (also known as Cirsty). I cannot find any trace of her birth in Morvern, and I was wondering if she was on either the above listing (which only shows births to two Donald McIntyres) or does she appear in the years between this one and the next one you posted 1820-39?

You mentioned in a reply to this posting that you got the information from a Local Family History Library. Was that in Morvern? If not, is it available on-line?
Thank you

In the book 'Morvern - A Highland Parish' by Norman McLeod and edited by Iain Thornber, Thornber makes a similar comment in that he says that 'McIntyre was not a common surname in Morvern then or since' and yet there are 67 McIntyres in the 1841 census in Morvern!!

There could well be a connection between our 2 lines as Archibald McIntyre was listed as a schoolmaster on Agnes' death certificate (in spite of being shown as an agricultural labourer in the 1841 census) and Donald McIntyre is shown as a schoolmaster in the 1861 census (He is also referred to as a schoolmaster in the above book).

Thanks again.

Well It appears we are cousins. Thomas Franklin McIntyre has three children that I am aware of. Andrew Jackson, Robert Lee and Thomas A. Robert Lee married Emma Whitfield and had Adolph. Adolph had James Carey Lee. James Carey Lee is my father. So Thomas Franklin is my Great Great Grandfather.

Alot of the decendants of Adolph are in Port Authur and Orange, TX.

Where do you live?

James McIntyre

Hello,

I am currently researching the McIntyre's in Grimes County and I am also trying to find Thomas and Dora King. I know they are Buried in Fairview Cemetary in Grimes County. I have not been able to locate them in the Census.

There alot of Mcintyres in Grimes county. Margaret Fayhe McIntyre is the oldest moving from Lousiana in 1825. Her husband Robert McIntyre (b.1761 d.1814 in LA) died in LA and moved to Grimes county.

I have not found the relation from T C McIntyre and Dora King McIntyre in Grimes county, but I am still searching the Navasota Library and the Anderson Court house.

Let me know if you have found anything and I will do the same.

James McIntyre
936-271-9455

I am also searching for a Michael McIntyre born in Ireland. He would be my great grandfather. He was married to Lizzie (? Elizabeth) and we do not know her maiden name. They lived in Boston, Mass and had a daughter Mary (married name Hartin) who was born 12/25/1892. They also had two sons that were given up for adoption when Lizzie died. One was named Walter Turgeon (adopted name) and we do not know anything about the other son. I do not know if they were older or younger than my grandmother Mary. Both Michael and Lizzie McIntyre are listed as being born in Ireland but we do not know what county, their years of birth or immigration dates. If anyone has information, I would be most grateful.
