TUCSON, ARIZ. - William "Bill" Richard McKee, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away in his home, after a brief illness.
Bill was born in McKeesport, Pa., on Aug. 27, 1920, son of the late John D. and Beatrice (Oates) McKee.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Engineering and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he developed a lifelong love of aviation.
He distinguished himself as a gifted baseball pitcher in high school, the University of Pittsburgh and while serving in the Navy.
Following the war, Bill enjoyed a varied career, highlighted as an engineer with the Montgomery Ward Company in Denver, the Chino Open-pit Copper Mine in Santa Rita, N.M., The Corry Jamestown Co. in Corry, Pa., and as the plant manager of The Ohio Chair Company in Youngstown, Ohio. He leaves behind his wife, Elaine Catherine McKee; his sons, Michael (Denise) McKee of Youngstown, Ohio, Colin (Mary) Preston of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Warren Preston of Alexandria, Va.; and daughters, Barbara (Clyde) Anderson of Columbiana, Ohio, Melinda McKee of Cincinnati, OH., Anita (Les) Burns and Nancy (Dean) Preston Peterson of New Hampshire; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition he is survived by his brother Dr. Robert E. McKee of Butler, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John L. McKee.
A private memorial was held in Tucson on April, 29, 2014, attended by immediate family members.
