Classification: Query
Surnames: McKeel, Gammon
James Clark McKeel is my grandfather, his father was Jesse Q McKeel, his was Lewis Clark McKeel, his was the Elder James McKeel from there I am lost and need help. Some records indicate my gggggrandfather was named James B born 1766 in Ireland and died 1822 in NC, and others indicate it was Thomas born 1766 in Ireland died 1806 in NC. Both are listed as being married to a Ruth Gammon. I have heard of wills listing James as the son of Thomas and other postings listing Thomas as the son of James. I also lose the scent of Ruth at this point, nothing past her mention as a spouse. I have managed to trace other branches back to the 1400's in Europe but I am halted here with my surname. I suspect there must be a spelling change at this point, but am seeking any support or advice anyone may be able to provide.
