I am descended from Jean McKie and Duncan McMurtrie married at Dalmellington in 1772. Jean was the daughter of David McKie b 1708 at Straiton and Jean Graham who married at Dalmellington in the 1730s; David McKie,a mason, was son of Robert McKie of Dalmellington and Marion Ferguson of Straiton who married at Dalmellington in 1705. The records at Dalmellington are poor in the 1600s but there is a will for a William McKie at that place dated 1671, indicating a presence. There are many more records for McKie's at Straiton.
