About me and my
MCKINNON connection: My earliest
MCKINNON ancestor is John
MCKINNON, b. about 1779 in NC and d. 5 Apr 1865,
Randolph Co., GA. He may have had a middle name that begins with the letter “G”. He m. (1) Phariby
GARRETT, b. ca. 1786 in NC, d. 5 Sep 1863,
Carnegie,
Randolph Co., GA on 2 Sep 1813 at
Hancock Co., GA; he m. (2) Sarah E. LOVENING, b. ca. 1800. It is said that JohnÂ’s parents immigrated from
Scotland.
John and Phariby were the parents of 10 children: Hugh (b. 28 May 1814), Mary H (b. 31 Aug 1816), Frances (11 Oct 1817), Sarah (2 Apr 1819), John
GARRETT (25 Jan 1821), Margaret (22 Jun 1822), Penelope (19 Aug 1823), James
GARRETT (31 Dec 1824), William Robert (6 Mar 1826), and Elizabeth (23 Oct 1827).
My genealogical studies began officially in late January 1976 and much of the time since then has been in used pursuing my southern U.S. lines, particularly my
Virginia lines. What little information I have on my
MCKINNON line comes from a history of
Randolph Co., GA and from review of the US Census records of
Randolph Co., GA. I would like to know more about them and would like to meet “new” cousins. Look forward to meeting and/or hearing from you!
