I am looking for all info on our family.
My father was Leonard d. McKinstry my
grand father was Roger McKinstry and i
belive my great grand father was Burton
Mckinstry. All where from Mass. first in my
line to america was William McKinstry who
moved here from Cerick Fergues Ireland in
1740 or 1741 to Boston,Mass. and setteled in
Southbridge,Mass. in 1747 [his homestead is on the national historical register].
Mckinstry did originate from Galloway district of Scotland and that would be our
tartan for a kilt.
Mckinstry origanily was spelled
"Mac An Astrigh" and is gailec for son of the
traveler.
All of us Mckinstry's or Mckinster's or
Mckinstrey's or varias other spellings are
related though usally hundreds of years back!
I would like to see a family reunion of all
the lines!
I am interested in hearing from any of the
family McKinstry who wish to share info or
just chat.
