Kimberly, I'm sure if you don't remember your father, then you probably don't remember me. I'm your Aunt Brenda, Jack's sister. I realize that it's been 9 years since you posted this message. I'm hoping that you will still receive this one! I also have been looking for my brother recently. Did you ever locate him?? I have not seen or heard from Jack since 1991, the year after Fannie passed away. Please contact me thru my email if you get this. Thank you!
brenreeves59@yahoo.com

My Eli McKissick was born about 1802 in South Carolina and was married to Clarissa. They had 7 children, one of which was my great grandfather Rev. Eli Murchinson McKissick. He had 12 children.
Eli Sr. was on the 1840 census for Marion County. I believe his father to be Archibald. Archibald was in Williamsburg County in 1790.
Think there is a connection to Moses?
Helen

Eli McKissick was one of my ggggrandparents siblings Moses and Annie Mckissick were their parents Annie and Moses were buried in Greer, South Carolina in a cementary called Need More Community cementary. They called it that because the Mckissick's always needed more. There is also a street called Mckissick Street in Greer. They were the first to settle on that street. I know that they had a total of 14 children. If you have any information about siblings names. Please let me know and we can compare notes.

She died April 27, 1922 and is buried in Harleyville, SC. The death certificate does not give parents names, wouldn't you just know it...

John McKissick-Kissick (c.1715-1793) is the first documented person with this surname in my family and appears on the list of Protestant Householders for the year 1740 in the aforesaid town and parish of Londonderry (Derry) Northern Ireland. His name disappears thereafter from the records. He came to America prior to the Revolutionary War, exact years unknown and name of ship is unknown. He and his wife settled in Oxford Twp., Chester Co., Pennsylvania. He died in 1793 and his wife, Mary died on 10 March 1803, Lower Oxford Twp., Cheater Co., Pennsylvania. The surname in my family has been spelled inter-changeably as "McKissick" and "Kissick" but mainly as "Kissick" in my family.

William from Benton TN was my g.g. uncle. He is buried at Old Ocoee Cemetery in Benton TN. His first wife Nancy McColister is buried in the McKissack Cemetery. Civil War records show a William McKizzack (McKissack)as serving in Co. E 5th TN McKenzies as a private. The Co. Roll taken at Tunnel Hill GA., March 12, 1864 listed Capt Thaddis McCarters Co? this William had enrolled Feb. 18, 1863. This is possibly the right William. It said deserted Aug.10 1863. More than likely he had been in a battle and just got separated from his Co. This happened many times during the War.
My great grandfather was John McKissack.

This is my son's family. Never could figure out the connection. One cousin had a connection through Andrew Gregg Curtin McKissick who m. Mary Kennelly, but I do not think that is correct given the time period. We are looking at:

1) Wilson or William and/or HENRY MCKISSICK m. Clara Miller (adopted? dau. of Samuel and Christina Miller) and had:
2) Robert McKissick (b. ca. 1870)
2) Wilson McKissick (b. 1873)

Story I heard was that this Henry McKissick was found dead on train tracks around 1876, probably a robbery. The family was from Beech Creek Twp./Mill Hall, Clinton Co., PA.

Clara Miller m(1) Mr. Allen and had Theresa/Tacie
m(2) Henry McKissick
m(3) Mr. Nestlerode

I recall being read a letter from Tacie, which I discounted at the time as it conflicted with the other information I had, but that may prove to be correct. It had William Wellington McKissick and Robert Cromwell McKissick as brothers and I think William Wellington McKissick was given as the father of the Wilson and Robert who were brothers as numerated above. It's all very confusing. Add to this another William McKissick, a Civil War soldier from the area, and I do not know how he connects.

Oh, good. I was hoping to speak with someone from that line. It does appear that Elmer E. McKissick and Andrew G. C. McKissick were brothers, but the Census records are a little bit confusing. What I think happened was that Susan McKissick married a William Johnson. When he died, it appears she and Andrew, and at one point, Elmer, went to live with her father, William McKissick (and giving her children his surname, which was her maiden name). I do believe I saw Elmer living with another Johnson at one point, and thought, perhaps, Susan had adopted him. I'll contact you privately with the information I have on this. My belief is that Susan had a brother, H.B. who was probably "Henry" McKissick. He was killed in 1876 in a train accident. This is the line I was researching.

Dorothy,

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the McKissick family of Andrew G. C. McKissick who married Mary Kennelly. I believe Susan McKissick was Andrew's mother, and his father was actually a Mr. (William?) Johnson.

Do you happen to know anyone in touch with this family, or what became of Susan's brother, H.B.? Thanks.

Tennessee, Missouri, California

From the info I have, I believe William Henry McKissack (1791-1868) moved from Tennessee (Sevier County) To California Mo. with his second wife Katherine Mashburn. (His first wife was Sarah Williams (I have a pic. of them)). After his death in @1868, Katherine and some of the family(others remained) moved to Napa Cal. She was listed in 1907, Napa in a pension application as widow of William who served in the TN Militia during the War of 1812. William had two brothers; John 1793-1855 and Abraham 1803-1876, both buried in the family Cemetery, Polk Co. TN. Abraham moved to Texas and back to TN before his death. Some of the family stayed in Texas.
Their father was William 1770-1848, buried Benton TN. William’s father was John II McKissack, 1750-ca1815, buried in Putnam Co. Ga. John was the son of JohnI
McKissick (ack) 1720-1800, died in person Co. NC.
Notice the spelling varied between brothers, McKissack and McKissick. A brother of John II , Thomas McKissick moved to Maury Co. TN. So we have relatives in Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and California.
Granit70@yahoo.com
Seeking parents of William Kinchen MORROW (b ~1830’s)

I’m seeking any information/documentation showing that my ancestor William Kinchen MORROW is the same person as the W.K. MORROW showing up in the household of Samuel MORROW in the 1860 census of Maury Co, TN as wells as in the 1850 census of Giles County, TN.

What I know:

My gggf William Kinchen MORROW (b ~1830’s, d 1873) married my gggm Mary Elizabeth MCKISSICK (b 23 SEP 1863, d after 1900) in Maury County, TN 19 FEB 1865.

Several old sources refer to William as “Capt” but I’ve never found any information about that.

While several of Mary’s brothers served with the Confederate forces during the Civil War, two of her youngest brothers served in the same Union company of Samuel.

I have seen several compiled genealogies that list Samuel as William Kinchen’s father, but none of them that I’ve seen so far had any documentation.

In some of those compiled histories, William Kinchen is listed as moving out of state to Bolivar County, MS shortly after the murder of Samuel MORROW in Maury County by a band of masked men in Aug 1969. Some of the accounts of this murder make it sound like they might have been after Samuel’s children as well.

Thanks in advance for anything you can share!
Greg Morrow
Austin Texas
