I included a few similar sounding names because it's important to remember before the famine that alot of Irish spoke gaelic and were not able to read & write English, many names were written down as they sounded phonetically. In a thick accent especially from the highlands of Scotland, the name would sound like "Muck-Gee-Lane" or "Muck-Geely-Own"
