Hello,
My husbands ggrandfather's name was John McClerion Hickman. He was born in Giles Co. Tennessee in 1845. His father was Jesse D. Hickman b. 1810 Wilson Co. Tennessee and d.1876 in Maury Co. Tennessee.
I was wondering if there was any McLaurines living in these areas at that time.
I am postulating that the name McClerion is a corruption of the name McLaurine. And that John got his name because of a family friend or someone that Jesse respected enough to name a son after him.
Or that a female married into the Hickman family and her maiden name was McLaurine.
Can anyone help me out.
