Looking for information on the surname, McLimore, or McLemore, but this spelling may be off the mark. I have information on a man who had a rather dark history, being jailed for murder, for which he likely would have been acquitted if he had not escaped jail. I have some colorful information that the family is unlikely to have encountered anywhere else. The man was "from Columbia, four miles west of Sonora." He had at least one brother, who resembled him in appearance. I would like to share what I have with anyone related, who is interested in genealogy, and might be able to give me any additional information on the man. This all happened in gold rush era Sonora, California (c. 1851). My g-g-grandfather, David Cooper, was the jailer at the time, and his journal is about to be published. So I have a connection, and some interesting anecdotal information. I would like to find out more about this man if he can be identified and anything more is known.
