I am looking for my great great grandmothers maiden name? Ok, Duncan McMaster has six siblings and in the census in 1961 they were still in Ardnamurchan Argyllshire, Knoydart dist. Glendlg Persish. Archiblad was 46 in 1846 and Duncan was 1 month old. His wife was Lillie or Lillia. They left or at least Archibald traveled to America that same year and ended in Ontario Canada. In 1880 Duncan and John went to Sigwa Michigan where they registered in a boarding house; I guess for work. I noticed that thier are names in Michigan that my Great Grandfather used. My Grandfathers name is Merrill and where he build his home and bought up land was in Freeland. Langley is another little town where they brought farm goods and lumber. Now I think Archibald went a head with the boys because of land purchase and the oldest daughter. I don't think Lillie and Mary went with them but he must of left one of the boys for protection. I am guessing Ewen he was 17 at the time. Now this is where i am not clear whether Archibalds full name was James Archibald McMaster and he remarried or if on a later boat Lillie joined him. Can someone give me some clue. I think he married Jane McLeandon.
