Hello I would like to ask what were their children's names? I am family to to the Mcmicheal family from S.C., I have learned that in the cunsus Mcmicheal is spelled MACK, I didn't know why but I have seen that though my search. Our grand mother is Queen Ester Williams married Curtis Williams
Our family mix of surnames: Mack/Mcmicheal, Summers, Williams, Duncan, Bolden, and other that I haven't been able to know for sure what uncle & aunt moved where and had how many children. lesleyspcc

My name is Evan Ashford. I had a GGG Grandfather named Benjamin McMichael born in Georgia in 1837. He lived his life in Neshoba County, Mississippi where he married Jane McDougal. It is not known if Ben had any children for he had none with Jane.

I don't know if there is any relation but the names and locations were just too close.

Evan

Email me at e_man39090@yahoo.com

I'm not sure of the spellings, but Aretus McMichael and Mamie Greene McMichael are my mothers paternal grandparents. They had twins Clarence Alonso and Clifford Aretus, Bernard and others. Clifford married Beulah Calhoun, parents of my mother, Jean C McMichael. After Aretus died, Mamie re-married and had at least 3 more children, one of which was Eulalia Broadwater. I'm interested in any information about this direct line. I believe most of these relatives were in Georgia and some in Florida.

Julie,
Thanks for your message. I don't list a Robert McMichael in my tree. I have 3 McMichael's John, Mary and Jane. They all three married into the Wilkin's that came from County Antrium. John married Mary Wilkin, Mary married Archibald Wilkin II and Jane married John Wilkin. My John and Archibald II Wilkin were brothers. I believe that they probably were sibling. In the Will of James McMichael does list his son John and a daughter Mary but does not mention a Jane. I guess she could have been a cousin? Just not not know. Lorie

Parents of Elizabeth McMichael (born in Germany)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me find information on one Elizabeth McMichael, wife of Daniel Womelsdorf.

Elizabeth was born in 1703 in Germany (possibly near Deidenshausen) and died in Amity,Berks,Pennsylvania on August 1st, 1772.

With her husband Daniel Womelsdorf (1703-1759) she had atleast one child, Jacob Womelsdorf (1733-1805) who lived his whole life in Berks,Pennsylvania.

I am interested in Elizabeth because, well, for being born in Germany, McMichael is not a very German name. I'm hoping that Elizabeth was of Scottish heritage as my mother (elizabeth's direct descendant) is hoping for some Scottish ancestry.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

My ancestors are the branch of McMichaels who emigrated from Ulster from Galloway around 1620-25. I have traced back to to a Michael who was knighted for valor at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, which was a turning point in Robert Bruce's fight for Scottish independence. The descendents of this Michael adopted the surname of McMichael. I am looking for my lineage that still lives in Scottland or Ireland. I was hoping you could help. Robert McMichael is as far back as I have found born circa 1690 at Ballycastle, County Antrim, Ulster, Ireland. He lived his entire life in this vicinity.

My Grandmother was a McMichael and I would like to go back as far as I can in ancestry.

Julie
julieince70@hotmail.com

I read your entry and just wanted to say. My line comes from Robert McMichael who was born circa 1960 at Ballycastle, County Antrim, Ulster, Ireland. He had three sons; Duncan, John Thomas and Charles. John Thomas and Charles left Ireland for America. John McMichael had six children; Sara, Margaret, John, James, one unamed son who was killed by Indians, and Thomas McMichael. I don't know if this helps or not. I have a book on the McMichaels who moved to Pennsylvania. I am trying to find lineage from Scotland.

Julie
julieince70@hotmail.com

It might be easier to communicate by email - my email address should be accessible above (click on username).

Just to add to my earlier post, my gg grandmother Catherine married William Jardine. They moved to Arran (Lamlash/Kilbride) probably in the 1870s, and that was where my g grandmother was born, Helen Thomson Jardine and some of the other children, Kate, William, Samuel?, and then on to Glasgow by 1891. Helen married James Robertson in 1900 and had two children, James Robertson, my grandfather, and Margie who married John Dippie. James Robertson married Charlotte Jackson Scott, moved to Carlisle in c. 1932 and had one daughter Margaret Sylvia Robertson, my mother, b. 1942. I have two brothers, Mark and Adrian.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Michelle

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 2 June 1904, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

TIMES-JOURNAL EDITOR SUED

Heirs of W. T. McMichael Bring Suit for Alleged Killing of Father

Oklahoma City: In the district court the case of Laura McMichael vs. Elmer E. Brown, a suit for damages, was taken up by Judge Gillette. The plintiff having died, the court ordered the suit revised and prosecuted by Scott McMichael, a son of the deceased Laura F. McMichael. The case was continued for the term. This is the case in which Mrs. McMichael brought suit against E. E. Brown of the Times-Journal for $10,000 for the alleged killing of her husband, W. T. McMichael, two years ago in the three-sided pistol engagement, in which W. E. Johnson, one of the participants, was shot and killed by McMichael. The tragedy resulted from a dispute over a land claim originating at the time Oklahoma was opened to settlement.

Since I have posted this obituary I have discovered a larger, more complete obituary of Benjamin McMichael that was published in a Belmont county, Ohio newspaper. It is in a book published by the Belmont county Genealogical Society.
This obituary states that the father of Benjamin McMichael, named Thomas, followed Sherman's Army home to Ohio. He settled in Delaware county, Ohio and three years later sent for his family (I am not quoting but from memory) I suppose your ancestor could be related but you are not a decendant.

There has been quite a few replies to this post. It would be nice to further document this family - even to slave days in Georgia.

Thanks for any of assistance.

Hi Michelle,
Joseph McMichael(blacksmith) was my g.g.grandfather. I am descended from his eldest son James (born 1842) a brother of Catherine.
I have some information on the "McMichaels". If you are interested, please let me know.
I have not heard of the Raffles family during my research.

Regards Jane Chapman
