So you are referring to Richard Bruner and not Richard R. Bruner? I guess this is a little confusing because on the family tree info I was given, I have Bessie Bruner as being the daughter of Henry Sr and Lena Slayton. With Bessie having siblings of Bettie, Jessie, Mabel, Iva Maw, Herbert, Richard, Tom and Henry Jr. The bessie bruner I have has a roll# of 1002, is this the same one you have?

Hello, Family
I am Alicia McNack, daughter of Austin McNack III, son of Austin McNack II, Austin McNack believed to a decendent of Alex McNack of Oklahoma. I have two other siblings and we live here in Texas. The MCNACK name is so rare here that the handful of us listed in the white pages are all related. I have read all of the entries from various people of the years. It would REALLY be nice someone among us could create a huge Family Web Chart and direct everyone to that chart to start filling in the information that each one has about our Ancestors. Feel free to contact me at joyjeremy@aol.com

Hi Renee

Yes, the names are the same. I believe MONIAC was the original spelling. MONIAC is associated with Creek Indians and Creek Freedmen (slaves of Creek Indians). Did your grandfather die in 1880 or 1980? What was Katie's surname. Did Katie ever live in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) between 1898 and 1907? What relation is Samuel MONIAC to you? I am a Freedman descendant of McNAC(K)'S from areas in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, i.e., Braggs, Four Mile Branch, Menard Mountain and Valley, etc. Hope to hear from you.

Preston
Safety, Healing, Liberation, & Justice.

Hi Eric

The name McNAC, McNACK, MONIAC, MANACK, is Irish in origin. Coming from Ireland some MONIAC'S (original spelling I believe) settled in Alabama among the Muskogean Indians (later called Creek). My ancestors were part of the forced removal (Trail of Tears) of native people from SE United States, that is they were slaves of Creek and Cherokee Indians. Who are your parents, grandparents, ggrandparents, etc? My ancestors are associated with areas in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, i.e., Braggs, Four Mile Branch, and Menard Mountain and Valley. Allied families are MAYFIELD, IRONS/NERO, STARR, VANN, MILLER, LEWIS, among others. I live in K.C., Mo. Holla at me.

Preston
Safety, Healing, Liberation, & Justice
Hi Karen, are you aware that Phillip McNAC of Henryetta, OK. was interviewed in the 1930's as part of the Federal Writers Project? At the below site is an index giving the microfilm # of the interview. It's not available on-line, but information on where a copy can be obtained is listed.

Hope this helps.
Preston

That's great. I'm wanting to read Phillip's interview also. Never thought to check my local RLDS. Thanks. BTW, I'm a McNAC descendant: ggrandfather, Adam McNAC, son of Wallace (3/4 Creek) and Fannie LEWIS (slave). Wallace also had a son named Alex and one named Elwood, among other children, with his Creek wife (Vicey, I believe). Wallace was an attorney and hotel owner in Muskogee. Wallace probably died after 1910. Adam and Fannie along with other McNAC'S (McNACK) are buried in the Four Mile Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Muskogee County, OK. Any of this sound familiar?

Preston
Safety, Healing, Liberation & Justice

Here's the Family Oral Story:

[ A great uncle, Adam McNAC/McNACK, had a son by a RELEFORD woman in Louisiana who had once lived in Wagoner County, OK. The woman's mother was named Rosy/Rosey Releford.] No other information. The task is to prove or disprove the story.

Here's what I know. Uncle Adam was known as "Jimbo" and was born in the Illinois District, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) b. ca. 1896. He was born to Adam, Sr. and Frances HILDERBRAND. Siblings: Wallace, Fannie, Bertha, Lewis, David, Charles, Jeremiah, and Jessie. All are enrolled as Cherokee Freedmen, with the exception of Adam, Sr, who was a Creek Freedman. Uncle Jimbo was married to one Etta DAVIS and she had a daughter named Coreila.

Help?

Preston

He died in 1956, she about 1932, and are buried near Henryetta, Oklahoma (where we live). There are still many of their decendants in Oklahoma. I have seen the name spelled McNac and MacNac.
Both were of Creek ancestry......
Do any of these names mean anything to anyone?

Thanks,,,

Hello, I have seen the name McNac go from Moniac, to McNack, to McNac, Is this all the same? I am also Creek Indian, My Grand Father Was James McNac, he died 10-25-80, I have tried to research and at one time, thought it went back to Moniac, He was adopted, his real mother was, Katie, she gave him and his brother up for adoption, I never knew any of his real family. Samual Moniac was a member of Atmore Porch Creek, and anyone who can prove relation to him, can enter that tribe, I have been unable to do this. Supposedly according to that tribe, the best place to research him is through the archives in Brewton Alabama. Thats all I know.
