Hi everyone,
Just want to share my unbelieveable news, after years of searching I located Sr Vincent Marie and at 90+ years of age I find this truly amazing.
So for all of those who think their brick wall is never going to crack, my advice is never every give up.
The name of my gggrandfather was confirmed as Florence McNamara known as "Florie Mack" - gggrandmother confirmed as Jane (nee McMahon) from Ennis, Co Clare Ireland.
Children in the US were John, Thomas, Peter and Jane/Jennie.
From what I understand they lived in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd love to hear from you.
Julianne
My Great Grandfather, John Joseph O'Donnell, born in Ireland about 1858, He married Maria McNamara in Denver, CO in 1881. The had six children between 1881-1889 in Idaho Springs, Colorado: Maurice, Nora, Minnie, John, Margaret and Mary. I noticed the similarity of names in your O'Donnell family. I don't know anything about the siblings, or parents of John J. O'Donnell. I do have a picture of him, Maria McNamara and some of the children. My grandmother was Margaret O'Donnell.
Any connection to your family?

Re: Next Clan McNamara Reunion in Ireland

Judy, I don't know of any current plans for another McNamara reunion in Ireland or elsewhere. After the 2002 one, there was initially a lot of interest in having one in the US or elsewhere. That discussion took place on the MacNamara Clan Association website on Yahoo -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MacN_Clan/ but faded out without someone to take the organizing role (it's a lot of work). Some people created another McNamara website because they wanted more of a younger chat group (I haven't checked on them for several years.) I currently administer that website, so if you'd like to go there and see if you can stir up some interest, please do so. There are 127 members still subscribed.

In October 2007, I was in Ennis, and visited with Brother Sean McNamara, who was a key person in the activities in 2002 in the Ennis reunion. I also spoke with Peader McNamara and have been in contact with him since, although not recently. Peadar is the President of the Ireland McNamara Clan Association. I believe he would like to see continuing activities, but needs help from many to arrange another reunion.

I plan to go over to Ennis, and particularly Ogonnolloe area, in 2010, but haven't made any definite arrangements yet.

My friend, Jim McNamara, is also planning to go over next year and we've mused about going at the same time, if possible. So, that could be a start of a reunion, at least maybe an informal one. Jim administers the Macs_Clearys website on Yahoo -- http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Macs_Clearys/ .

Pat McNamara

Hi...My GF name is also James McNamara from Kilbane Co. Clare. So, I know how difficult it is to search such a very common name in Ireland. I found that if you can search the 1901 Irish Census it will give the most helpful information including other family memebers, ages, religion and the Townland that is needed so you can email the parish to rec copies of birth certificates. Hope this is a bit of help....

Do you have ancestral information on Bertha and Lilah Miles Risner? I know of their parents (Addie Puckett and Miles Risner); I have copy from the Medicine Hat newspaper that states that Lilah was born to Mrs. Miles Risner, and her husband died in Colorado some 8 months prior (to Dec 1, 1891.) Do you know if their mother remarried and to whom? I cannot trace either ladies, or their mother, in the census for 1900.

After all, another Kenneth in the picture was too much for her to bear; and I a young boy represented that threat.

PO Box 542 Weed, Ca. 96094

My Dad changed the spelling of his name to Mac from McNamara to keep Rebecca from stalking and harassing him after he divorced her.

He then married the nanny Carol--who treated us (kids) from the first marriage as garbage/cancer; she would not allow us to be around our dad and subsequent half-siblings which came soon!

I am his first son and first child. My mother Rebbeca Vera cheated on him while they were engaged; Tina was the result before my arrival.

Loretta, Diana, Angie, and Donald followed after our births. One of the men he was stationed with was a white man last name of McNamara. There's at least one photo of him in the album. I'd be happy to share with anyone who might be connected to this man.
You have me a little afraid and I am not much afraid of anything. I have the Lord on my side. As for your mother or should I call her Becky, she did not kill our aunt. She was murdered unfortunately by her ex-boyfriend he also killed the husband that she went back to. That's what I was told. In fact they had stayed with us a week or two before this tragedy had happened.

Kenny, you had also lived with us when you were about 1 to 2 1/2- 3 years years old because your mother could not take care of you. I don't know why. But my mother and father wanted to adopt you and that is when your mother took you away from us. It was just devastating, you were never, ever forgotten from our hearts or our minds. She, (Becky) supposedly put you in a convent and gave strict orders that my mother and our family were not to come in contact with you.

The city you lived in was Montebello, CA. I have no other contact with all the other family members of that side of the family they were really just not nice people. All I have been told is that my so-called grandmother has been dying for the last 20 years.

The only person my mother keeps in touch with is her full biological sister who lives in Colorado.

Why are you so scared? Are you in hiding? Has life been that bad for you?

I am sorry for your fright. My name is Teresa Arnold. My maiden name was Guevara. I am remarried and together we have 5 children, the youngest is going to be 15 years old in September.

I have two brothers and another sister. There were four of us. My parents then adopted my cousin Jessica. Her mother was Liz your mom's sister. But you know what she is just like them. They say it is not genetic their personalities but we raised her like us and she is totally like them. NOT NICE!

Well this is your cousin! Teresa

I am looking for any living descendants of Francis and Mary McQueen "Mack" (McNamara).

Francis McNamara was born abt 1818 in Ireland and died 21 Oct 1869 in Oswego, Oswego, New York and is buried in St. Paul's Cemetery there.

Francis' wife was Mary McQueen who was born Nov 1831 in Ireland and died 8 Jan 1923 in Bristol, Bristol, Rhode Island. After her husband's early death, she remarried to a blind Civil War hero named David Welsh/Welsh. [Mary's parent's were Patrick & Mary Doyle McQueen].

Francis & Mary "Mack" had 8 children that I know of:
• Michael Mack born Oct 1849 in NY and died 12 Sep 1877 in Oswego, NY [married Anna Turner].
• Frank L. Mack born May 1851 in Oswego, NY and died 25 Dec 1932 in Oswego, NY [married Sarah J Conners].
• Daniel James Mack born abt 1855 in NY [married Elizabeth T Casey].
• Mary J. Mack born abt 1860 in NY [married Arthur J. O'Sullivan].
• William Edward Mack born Dec 1861 in NY and died 12 Apr 1891 in Oswego, NY.
• Edward D. Mack born Apr 1866 in NY and died 18 Dec 1950 in Syracuse, Onondaga, NY [married Mary Nelligan].
• Minnie/Mary McNamara born abt 1866 in New York and died 18 Feb 1881 in Fulton, NY [married Albert Briggs].
• Margaret Ellen McNamara born 28 Mar 1868 in Oswego, NY and died 1 Sep 1961 in Oswego, NY [married John Charles Donahue *my great-great-grandparents*].

I am a descendant of Margaret Ellen McNamara and her husband John Charles Donahue. The name of Margaret Mack's father lives on in the Donahue's as each generation names a son Francis McNamara Donahue. I would love to get in touch with any descendant from Francis and Mary McQueen Mack/McNamara. Also, if anyone has any more information on any of the family I would love to know it.

Are you talking about Bridget Jane McNamara who is said to have come over in a pork barrel to escape the potato famine. She would of been my great great aunt. If this is the same person, let me know please, I'm really trying to find out everything about my ancestors.

YW, Colleen. I have sent an email to the Clare Roots Society, but so far haven't had a reply. I've got another contact who is currently in contact with them, and he will try to get a copy from Paddy, if possible.

Paddy

Ah, I think I have definitely located Patrick Waldron, aka Paddy Waldron, as the following quote explains:

Paddy Waldron Photo of Paddy Waldron

Paddy has been an enthusiastic genealogist from an early age. While lecturing at Trinity College, he began to publish information on Irish genealogy on the College website in 1994. That evolved through a student group project and collaboration with John Grenham and The Irish Times into the Irish Ancestors website. Around the same time he encouraged his friend Fiona Fitzsimons, then a history postgraduate, to set up an online genealogical research business. That enterprise has since evolved into Eneclann, of which Paddy serves as a non-executive director. Paddy has published his genealogical research (as Padraig Óg de Bhaldraithe) in journals ranging from the Old Limerick Journal to the Ballyguiltenane Rural Journal. He now lives on the Clare/Tipperary border and was a founding member of the Clare Roots Society in April 2006.

http://www.cigo.ie/council_members.html

I may be incorrect about P.
Colleen, like you I've wanted to find that gedcom file of McNamaras, for several years, since I first heard about it. Unfortunately, all traces of it seem to have disappeared.

Note that Janet hasn't posted anything since 2001.

I think her cousin was Peter Waldron at Trinity -- I recall his first name as Peter, not Patrick, but not sure.

Google search doesn't turn up much on him.

I think that what happened may be that this file and others ended up in a new Trinity College business -- Eneclann -- http://www.eneclann.ie/ and is now only available for a fee -- just guessing, since Eneclann started abouot the time of references to the McNamara file.

I haven't made a determined try to see if they might have it, but it would seem a good chance that they might.

If anyone has the file, or knows where it is, I sure would like to find out.

Patrick
