Is anyone researching the McNiel family who is shown in the Cumberland Co. census in 1790? Names include Heny, Sarah, Nancy, Malcolm (3), John (5), Niel (6), Laughlan (3), Hector, Archibald Sr., Daniel (2), Duncan Esq., Elizabeth, Hector (son of Archibald), and Mary. The name is consistently spelled McNiel.

There is an oral family tradition that the Rev. George McNiel family of Wilkes Co. NC is related to this family who settled in the Cross Creek (now Fayetteville) area "long before the Rev. War).

I'd like to communicate with anyone descended from or researching this family.

Bobbi Estes
