I would like to call to the attention of family researchers of William McPeak that an error is being repeated in many family history files that are being posted on the web.

William McPeak (1784-1845) who moved from White County, TN to Macoupin Co, IL NEVER MARRIED REBECCA THOMAS. His first wife was MARTHA and his 2nd wife was NANCY.

I have noticed over the past few years (and just last week) family history's posted on the web and at the LDS on-line service which have William McPeak and REBECCA THOMAS MARRIED--THIS IS INCORRECT.

WILLIAM C. McPEAK (the SON of William) maried Rebecca Thomas in Macoupin County, IL in 1843--not the elder William.

I have no idea where the incorrect information came from; however, I hope you will check your information to see if this information slipped into your files. IT SEEMS A SHAME THAT OTHER FAMILIES WILL PASS ALONG THIS INCORRECT INFORMATION AND CORRUPT THEIR FAMILY TREE.
