This is all I have, but as I recall there is quite a bit on father Samuel Smith--a few years since I have seen it.

Just to clarify, you are stating that John GALBRAITH (1715-1769) md Dorcas (d/o Samuel SMITH) lived in Lancaster Co PA? and, he died there in PA?

Do you know any other family members for Samuel SMITH?

I am searching on Vincent McPherson b.1802 in VA), who appears in the 1830 Census in Camden Co. He is living adjacent to Polly McPherson and James McPherson, who may be his mother and brother. Several McPherson families live near them as well.

Polly (Margaret Murdock?) McPherson may be the wife of John McPherson (b.1775 in VA).

Any guidance is appreciated!

Frances Elmorine McPherson 1905-?

I'm looking to find more information on Frances Elmorine McPherson. The family just called her Aunt Elmorine, she didn't like the name Frances. She was born about 1905 to Saint Elmo McPherson and Fannie Coon. I believe she married a Ben Miles and had 2 children named Bob and Marylin. I do not have any dates on the Miles.

We are also searching for her gravesite? We thought it was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hardin Co, IL. but we cant find it.

Okay, I have found ancestors of Abrose McPherson. I have gotten to Daniel McPherson 1700, Scotland. Does anyone know where he is buried, or any of his children? Margaret's maiden name is Elkins. James is my greatuncle. And if they is anything that u have in your files about them I would like to up date this side of my family. I do know that Jacob died on June 25, 1931 at Whitesville, WV. He was born Aug. 13, 1855 in Penn. Both parents were from Scottland.

Eliza Jane McPherson was Vesta Ann McPherson's sister, hence the same parents.

Now the story gets interesting:

Vesta ANN McPherson married Little Page Rowland, and
Eliza Jane McPherson married Samuel S. Rowland.

Vesta and Eliza were sisters, while Little Page and Samuel S. were brothers.

Two sisters married two brothers. Cool, huh?

Her name was Vesta Ann McPherson (b. 1829, TN; m. 12 Nov 1846 to Little Page Rowland; d. 1862, Saline Co., AR) and she was the daughter of Alexander and Serena A. Johnson-McPherson. Her son, William Granville Rowland (born, married and died in Saline Co, AR) was my great-great grandfather. Some of my family, including Morgan and Miller, is buried at the McPherson Cemetery (Sardis Community) in Saline County, AR.

Charles County, Maryland McPherson's

An update some of the branches of Charles County McPherson's have been tested (two). My uncle John Wesley McPherson and Venus Routh's nephew (and brother to Beth Frost) Scott McPherson have tested for Daniel's branch if we could find someone from Richard's line (brother to Alexander) that would be great. Beth, Venus and I are working hard to sort out some recent developments in these families. I believe someone has tested for William's branch as well. It would be very useful for another descendant of William to test if there is one out there not from the same family member. There is a McPherson DNA Surname Group at www.familytreedna.com that has started sorting McPherson branches through DNA I believe there are over 50 participants at this point. We have found some interesting information from this DNA study concerning Charles County, Maryland McPherson's. Anyone interested in helping sort out the branches of Charles County and anyone with any questions feel free to contact me, I will be happy to share what we have found so far.

I should have also said this family probably connects to Daniel McPherson and Ruth Shires of Pennsylvania but more research should be done to prove this.

Hi this is not my line but I have James A. in my database, son of Jacob S. and Margaret E. Unknown. Jacob S. son of Nathan and Emily Unknown they are in the Beaver County, Pennsylvania Census for 1860 and I think 1850. Looks like Jacob S. moves to West Virginia before the children are born. Let me know what you have I would like to update this family in my McPherson Branches of America database.

Fredina Jesse McPherson Meredith was born in Oban, Scotland and came to this country as a teenager in or around 1883 with her parents (believe her father's name was Duncan and I know her mother's name was Catherine), her older sister Joanna (1865 - 1955), and with at least three bothers ... Duncan. Donald and Ewing. I was her sister's, Joanna McPherson Hill (Captain Richard "Dick" Quinton Hill), youngest grandchild. My mother was her niece and namesake, Fredina Jesse Hill Howell (1901 - 1991).
