I am trying to locate R W McPherson (Rutherford Winiferd ?). He was married to Mary Ruth Janes in Alabama or Tennesee. Mary Ruth gave birth to a daughter Dorothy Ann McPherson while in Whitehall Montana, September 8, 1929.

Mary Ruth later married Virgil Tracer.

Where did Andrew come from? He married Mary Hersey in 1765 at St Bride, Fleet Street and they lived in Merton, Surrey which was where Mary had been born.
Seven children: Andrew 1768 / Alexander 1771 / Ann 1774 / William 1776 / John 1780 / Ann 1783 / Daniel 1786.
Daniel married Elizabeth Figges/Figgest c.1807. In 1851 he was a labourer at Garratt printing works, Wandsworth.

Hi These are my ggg-grandparents. They emigrated from Scotland between 1840 and 1845. They are listed in the 1860 census in Pittsburg.
George b. about 1798, Jane about 1820.
They had six daughters:
Georgeanna - b. about 1840 in Scotland
Mary J. - b. about 1845 in N.Y.
Annie - b. about 1848 in Pittsburgh, PA
Rebecca - b. about 1850 in Pittsburgh, PA
Susan - b. about 1859 in Pittsburgh, PA
Sarah - b. about 1856 in Pittsburgh, PA

George apparently ran a bar at 2 Fifth street in Pittsburgh.
He dies before 1870 and Jane and the 3 youngest are living in the 1st Ward with two Irish bartenders.

I can find no records after 1870 of any of the daughters other than my gg-grandmother, Georgeanna. She marries a John Edwards, who seems to have abandoned the family and their daughter Sarah Jane Edwards marries Addison Conaway from Bridgeport Ohio.

Georgeanna then marries a John Dawson, they have at least one daughter, Elizabeth who marries Linley S. Hanson in Bridgeport, Ohio.

Any information on any of these families is appreciated...

Daniel was born in Va. in 1755 and died in Rhea Co. TNin 1844. He was sheriff of Cocke county. One of their sons was George who fought in the battle of Horseshoe Bend in AL and he married Nancy Annie Kincheloe. Daniel had other children, one of whom was Henry who married Susannah Glascock, daughter of Archibald and Hannah (Kincleloe) Glascock. I am looking for the children of this couple. I am searching for a Hester McPherson who married William Joseph Brown around 1825 or 30. They lived in what was then Benton County, Alabama near the present town of Anniston. The family moved to Bastrop, La in 1844 and it is uncertain whether Hester was living at that time. I am descended from the youngest son of that union, Alexander McPherson Brown. I will be happy to share what information I have. It seems that George's mother was the daughter of Flora McDonald. Joy Coker

I'm looking for the parents and and siblings of Barbara Bell MacPherson/McPherson. She was born 7 Sep 1904 in MN? and died 7 Nov 1997 in Oceanside, San Diego, CA. The only clue I've found as to her last name was a listing of marriages in the Santa Ana CA Register which gave her last name of MacPherson. In the CA Death Index her mother's maiden name is shown as Fraser. She married Earle R. Walwick in Jan 1925 in San Diego co CA.

The CA Death Index shows her being born in MN, however the 1930 census says she was b in MA, her father was b in MD and her mother in MA. I've had no success at locating her under any spelling or Soundex in any other census.

Does this sound familiar to anyone out there?

He was born the son of John McPherson and Pearl Roberts on November 16, 1927 in Gould, Arkansas. He was a retired Mechanical Engineer from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Herman was a dedicated member of The Ohio Huskie Muskie Fishing Club. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Stephanie Beatty of Atlanta, Georgia; one step daughter, Jennifer (William) Hayes of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one son, Myles (Nina) McPherson of Huber Heights, Ohio; two brothers, Sylvester and Archie McPherson of Xenia, Ohio; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Seeking info on the George HOUSEL who marr. Mary McPHERSON (b. Abt 1826, NJ) who was a daughter of Asa McPHERSON. All were residents of Hunterdon Co. when George and Mary marr 7 Jan 1852.

In Dec 1859 this George HOUSEL, identified as a resident of Cherryville, was arrested for passing bad money in both NJ & PA. After trial, he was imprisoned in PA.

His father-in-law Asa McPHERSON brought a foreclosure suit against George after his conviction and imprisonment. George appealed and the resulting case, McPherson v. Housel, 2 Beas. (13 N. J. Eq.) 35 (1860), is still cited today.

Mary (nee McPHERSON) and George HOUSEL reportedly had four children: Mary (or Martha), Henry, Eliza and George Trout HOUSEL. All children apparently born between 1852 and 1860.

Seeking information re: any and all of the persons mentioned above.

He was married before 1904 to Isabel "Belle" Bering from San Francisco, CA.
He had a son Howard Bering McPherson in 1908.

The people I am trying to find out more about are Jean Carlson (her maiden name), her brother Billy (I presume William) Carlson and sister Dolores Carlson. Jean was born about 1932 and Billy and Dolores are younger. Their mother was Margaret McPherson Carlson and father was Alvin Carlson. They lived in North Dakota near Fargo until sometime in the 1940s and then moved to California. The family lost track of them at that time. He was said to of been married around 1950-52 and divorced in the same year. The birth certificate of the child is from Dayton, Montgomery county Ohio from St. Ann's maternity ward a part of St. Elisabeth hospital it was, July of 1951. He and the woman he was married to split and she remarried very quickly after the divorce. I am looking for information about Alexander McPherson, one of my g-g-grandfathers. From his tombstone in an abandoned Baptist cemetery in the hamlet of Tennyson in eastern Ontario, it appears he was born about 1775 in Perthshire (town or parish unknown) since the stone records his death on "Nov. 9, 1862 age 87 years".

Records of the Perth Military Settlement in the early 19th century in Canada West (now Ontario) show that an Alexander McPherson and wife (not named) were settled on lot 14, 2nd concession of Drummond Township of Lanark County in 1817. Early reports of settlers in the Settlement show that Alexander's first wife and a daughter died, and that Alexander remarried. From later census records, it appears this wife was named Janet, maiden named unknown.

I have evidence that this Alexander and Janet are my ancestors, since the births of their sons, John and Alexander (my g-grandfather) were recorded in the register kept by Reverend Wm Bell, the first Presbyterian minister in the Settlement. The register notes that the family lived on lot 14 of concession 2.

I have been completely unsuccessful in finding out more information about Alexander's geographic or family origin. I would therefore appreciate any information others might have about Alexander, in particular, first, his birthplace and date; second, his parents; and third, the names, both given and family, of Alexander's wives, the one married first, presumably in Scotland, and his second wife married in Canada.

Felix Harson (McPherson) & sons: William, John, Timothy in Whitchurch, York, Ontario

Found the following in the Whitchurch Township Papers,York Co, Ontario, Canada Reel MS658 #518. Info found in a couple of places under Concession 9. It is interesting and thought to pass it on - hopefully it will help someone.

Felix Harson was really Felix McPherson - his ancestor was in the Pretenders army at the Battle of Culloden Moor. That after the defeat of the Pretenders army, the McPherson went to Ireland and changed his name to Harson. Felix had three sons: William the eldest died about 1809 in Vaugh Twp, York Co - he was never married and childless. Second son John who was going by the name McPherson. Third son Timothy, born about 1793.

Another place it says that Felix Harson was living with John C Stooks (family?) when he died in 1815 in Vaughan Twp.

Both John C Stooks and Richard Stooks swore oaths to this information in 1851 and 1857.

I find it interesting that Richard Stooks was connected to these McPhersons as early as the 1790s. Richard Stooks md Nancy Emery. Nancy's brother, Wm Emery's daughter Susanna Emery md a John McPherson in Kent Co, Ontario:

Am searching for Effie McPherson, born in 1875 in Barton County, MO, to Charles R. & Mary Susan (Hanshaw) McPherson. Her siblings were Elmer E. and Walter McPherson, also born in Barton County, MO.

Effie's listed in the 1900 Barton County census but is NOT listed in the 1910 census. I don't know if Effie married or passed away.

William M’Pherson, son of Col. Robert M‘Pherson, was born December 2, 1757, on the farm settled by his grandfather in 1738. He died in Gettysburg, August 2, 1738. He filled sundry public trusts of a local character, and was, from 1790 to 1799, a member of the general assembly of the State for York County, except in 1793. He actively pressed and participated in the movement for the erection of Adams County, which was accomplished the last year of his public service. During the Revolutionary war, he served as a lieutenant in Capt. Albright’s company, Col. Miller’s regiment, and was captured in the battle of Long Island. The British held him a prisoner of war for over a year, during which time he endured many hardships. After the was he became a prosperous and influential citizen in his vicinity. He was twice married, first in 1780 to Mary Garrick, of Frederick County, Maryland, and second in 1793, to Sarah Reynolds of Shippensburg. He was the father of fourteen children, a few of whom were married. One of his sons, John B. McPherson, was a prominent citizen of Adams County, and for forty-five years was cashier of the Bank of Gettysburg. Hon. Edward McPherson, of Gettysburg, for a number of years was representative in Congress, for nearly a quarter of a century clerk of the United States House of Representatives, and the distinguished American Statistician, is a son of John B. McPherson, and great grandson of Col. Robert McPherson of Revolutionary fame. His sons are of the sixth generation of McPherson’s, who have lived in the same vicinity since the arrival of their worthy ancestors.
