I am a McQuoid from Belfast in Northern Ireland. My grandmother has kept quite an extensive family tree and can trace back the McQuoid family since before they left Scotland to come to Ulster. It's very interesting to see there's so many descendents in the USA.

Hello Deborah:
I am researching my gr-gr-gr grandparents; Felix and Sarah Jane (McQUOID) KEENAN; b. 1814/1819;IRL. The UHF found a baptismal certificate for their son, John Keenan; b. 1835, IRL from the RC church in Kircubbin, Co. Down. Sarah's name did not appear on the certficate; I believe because she was Presbyterian. The family migrated to Cumberland, ENG and eventually to the Rochester, NY, USA area today.
I am trying to find where Sarah McQUOID and Felix Keenan were originally from. I have seen several census or substitute info re: McQUOID families in the Grey Abbey and general Ards area of Co.Down. Any info on these families would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Chuck Keenan

Whilst at university (albeit 20 years ago), I tried to link back through my family tree but could go no further in the Belfast Records Office at that time beyond my gr-gr-grandfather, William. He and his brother Charles were builders in Belfast and the family owned a Building Company (C&W McQuoid), the name of which can be found on several buildings and churches in Belfast. There are some links with Castlerobin and Drumbo, both in Co Antrim but the rest of my research puts the family in Belfast (except for a brief period in Oldham and Macclesfield). Can you see any link here with your own research? I would be most interested and grateful if you could let me know either way. Thanks
Nigel
PS My wife is called Deborah!

Hello:

My name is Chris Ferguson (maiden name is McQuoid). I currently live in New Westminister, BC, Canada.

My immediate family lives in Wolseley, Saskatchewan. My father's family came from Ireland ( Ards Peninsula, County Down, Northern Ireland) and immigrated to Amherst Island in the St Lawrence River upstream from Kingston, Ontario in the early 1800's. Some of them then moved to the Dungannon area of Ontario.

Do you have any knowledge of your family history?

My father's cousin has done a family history and we are now attempting to add to it.

If you are related or think you may be related to us, please let me know the particulars.

If you are not interested in any of this, then please accept my apologies for contacting you.

Thank you in advance

Chris

Hello from Western NY (south of Rochester).
I am also searching for my McQUOID family tree on the Ards Penninsula in Co. Down (near Kircubbin).
My gr-gr-gr grandparents; Felix and Sarah (McQUOID) KEENAN; were born in IRL about 1814/1819. Their son, John Keenan was baptized in Kircubbin, Co.Down in 1835.
Does your husband have any additional info re: where his family was from in that area?
Any connections?
Best regards,
Chuck Keenan

Hello Chris:
I wrote some time back.
I am also searching my McQuoid family from the Ards Penninsula.
My gr-gr-gr grandparents were Felix and Sarah Jane (McQuoid) KEENAN;b. abt. 1814/1819;IRL. Their son, John Keenan was baptized in Kircubbin,Co.Down. I am trying to trace their town of origins. Most likely it is in the Greyabbey, Kircubbin Ballycranbeg area. Felix and family migrated to Cumberland, ENG about 1850 and some eventually made it to the Rochester, NY area.
Where were your McQuoid's from? Does this family sound familiar at all? Any info on this family's origins or relatives in Co.Down appreciated.
Best regards,
Chuck Keenan

Hello,

My grandmother was Elizabeth Young, born July 12, 1882 at Castlereagh No 1, Belfast, daughter of James Dougan Young and Margaret Brown. Elkizabeth had a cousin Margaret Elizabeth Young, daughter of William John Young, who married W.J. McQuoid. They lived at 81 Clifton Road, Bangor, County Down, North Ireland as of 1968. I was told they had three daughters, Katheen Ardill (now deceased in 1981 in Reno, Nevada, USA), Edna who married a Jamison and Ethel who married a Finlay and lived on a farm 12 miles from Bangor. All this information was given to me in 1968. Please advise if you know of this McQuoid family. I would love to be in touch with them. Can share photos.

Hi Andrew:
Don't know how many there are, I have been in touch with a few. One Denis McQuoid who lives in the Belfast area.
I am trying to locate the town of origins for my gr-gr-gr grandparents; Felix Keenan; b. 1814;IRL and Sarah Jane (McQuoid) Keenan; b. 1809;IRL. They had a son, John baptized in Kircubbin, Co.Down in 1835. The family later immigrated to the Dearham, Cumberland, ENG area about 1845.
Do you know of any McQuoid's in Co.Down or does the name Sarah Jane McQuoid exist in your family tree?
Best regards from a springlike Western NY
Chuck Keenan

Surnames: McQuoid - Ireland to Missouri
I am researching Francis, William b. 1827 and Hugh b. 1829 McQuoid all born in Ireland who appear in Missouri in 1870. Frances is dead by 1875 and the 1880 Census shows Hugh/his family and Henry McQuoid/wife Margaret raising Francis's children. I am not sure if Henry is actually William (dates are off) or Henry is another brother. Both Hugh and William are buried in McQuoid Cemetery in Missouri along with some others. Any help with their parents would be appreciated. Thanks
