William Thomas Jefferson McVey of Alabama is my brick wall. I cannot seem to get further back than him. A word of mouth story from an older cousin says there was a story of two brothers who stowed away on a ship and came to america. I don't know if this referred to William and his brother or not or further back. William had a brother named Dock who appeared once on a census near William in 1880. But I cannot find Dock anymore. It was said that he moved to North Alabama. William served in the War Between The States and was wounded at Vicksburg during the seige and captured and paroled. William then reenlisted and served through the war. He drew a Confederate Pension in Clay County, Alabama and died in 1928.
