Ronald D. McWherter, 68, of 3000 S. Union St. died of complications of diabetes Wednesday at Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial in Collins Cemetery.
Mr. McWherter was born in Hubbard and lived in Des Moines for 30 years. He was a retired plumber and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Mitilda of Venice, FL; three sons, Michael of Sarasota, FL, Roger of Nevada and Jeffrey of Johnston; three brothers, Robert of Russell, IA, Rodney of Iowa Falls, IA and Richard of Springville; four sisters, Barbara Smith of Des Moines, IA, Bonnie Smuck of W Des Moines, IA, Belva Kinney of New Providence, IA and Beverly Kodolph of Eldora, IA; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
